Getting this static screen when applying power in my HS5. Getting 5.1v at the end connector. Is that too high for a ZooQ? Also to be clear, I bought this from the original purchaser who sold it without ever using it. He did test it for me and it was working.

Hey all. This is what's going on. I've tested the roms with my programmer and they check out. I've also installed a Braze HSS kit simply for the diagnostics and it shows all RAM and roms ok. Any tips where to start would be great. Thanks.

This model is at least 5 years old and I know if has CGA from the jamma and VGA out via a standalone port. The button on the box is the menu and there is a volume pot as well. No HDMI port.

You mean on the monitor? The 4th pin after blue looks unused on the monitor connector.

It sounds weird, but I know it's something like that. I've seen, but can't find the thread, that moving a ground or disconnecting one, fixes this.

I can check the board tonight. It ended up dying on me completely, but I still have it and the solder evidence on the back should tell me which one. I used my meter to buzz it out from the edge connector, if that helps you get started.

You verified the sound board roms. Did you verify the main board roms? It almost seems like the issue is coming from the main board calling for incorrect data from the sound board.

Which roms? I have the ability to program new ones for you. It could also be the sockets, rather than the roms, themselves. My first step would be to remove them, clean legs and inspect the socket and if it's not horrible, shoot some contact cleaner in there. Then let that dry and reseat...
