  1. Recapping a buzzing k7000

Hey all. Just pulled a k7000 I've been working on to redo some stuff. The ground wires on this were messy and I noticed a pretty substantial buzz coming from the chassis. Really couldn't pinpoint where exactly it was coming from, but it sounded like it was either the yoke itself or under the...
  2. K7000 monitor not working when connecting frame to cabinet ground *Solved*

Couldn't have done it without your guidance I truly appreciate it! Definitely still very much in the learning process, but starting to make some progress just a bit. got everything wired properly finally, one plug, everything grounded, cabinet and kill switch working. The marquee itself is the...
  3. K7000 monitor not working when connecting frame to cabinet ground *Solved*

Omg... I have no idea if this is what it was, but the harness had gotten wrapped behind the board in one spot. I moved that to the front and the 50ohms are gone and the cabinet fires without any burning scent while grounded. Does that track? For now I'm gonna mark this solved thanks so much for...
  4. K7000 monitor not working when connecting frame to cabinet ground *Solved*

So kinda confused about this- what would be causing this and why wasn't this an issue on the old monitor?
  5. K7000 monitor not working when connecting frame to cabinet ground *Solved*

There it is. 50 ohms on the games edge connector ground to earth ground completely unplugged. A few things of note. The earth ground is looped into the switcher which is powering the board. Also the braided wire is screwed under one of the mounts for the board.
  6. K7000 monitor not working when connecting frame to cabinet ground *Solved*

Oh whoops check that... The 50 resistance goes away when I unplug the game board from the chassis. So something is bringing 50 ohms between chassis and ground when I plug the game board in
  7. K7000 monitor not working when connecting frame to cabinet ground *Solved*

0 ohms top to bottom transformer. 50 ohms ground braid to monitor chassis. Everything unplugged.
  8. K7000 monitor not working when connecting frame to cabinet ground *Solved*

    Nope it's 50 unplugged entirely.
  9. K7000 monitor not working when connecting frame to cabinet ground *Solved*

Edit- nvm might not actually mean anything. The issue doesn't happen when I detach the video signals from the edge connector. Basically whatever is leaking voltage to the frame is coming from the video signal path? No idea if that's right just spit balling.
  10. K7000 monitor not working when connecting frame to cabinet ground *Solved*

No difference unfortunately, but I did do some further testing and got some weird stuff going on. Ground prong on the wall plug to monitor frame has a resistance of 50. Ground prong to everything else in the cabinet is pretty much 0 resistance. Attach the ground to the frame and the resistance...
  11. K7000 monitor not working when connecting frame to cabinet ground *Solved*

Bumping it. Did some testing. The frame of the chassis is getting .4 volts for some reason. Going to pull the k7000 soon and inspect it for anything loose then reinstall the ground/dag cable coming off the neck board. Could issues with that cause this?
  12. K7000 monitor not working when connecting frame to cabinet ground *Solved*

That's the old setup which the colors were pretty wacky tbh. Here is a closeup. In this I don't have the earth on yet, but I have that connected as well.
  13. K7000 monitor not working when connecting frame to cabinet ground *Solved*

yes I followed this as best I could, however the cab I got tore out the old power supply and replaced it with a switcher and it looks like they also replaced the iso transformer as well, because the one I have doesn't go H, g, O, it goes O, H, G.
  14. K7000 monitor not working when connecting frame to cabinet ground *Solved*

So on this transformer it's 3 tabs on the bottom, 2 tabs on the top out to the monitor. I have the ground on the ground pin, neutral and hot on the proper pins. There's a braided wire that runs the entire cabinet that is screwed under the right leg of the transformer which you can see in the...
  15. K7000 monitor not working when connecting frame to cabinet ground *Solved*

lol? I asked this in one other thread about the grounding and I answered the question when you asked.
  16. K7000 monitor not working when connecting frame to cabinet ground *Solved*

Yes I am. edit- prior to rewiring it to use one plug and a filter/distribution block, one plug came directly into the iso transformer which fed the monitor, the other came directly into the switching supply for the board. On the old monitor everything worked fine. On the new one it can't be...
  17. K7000 monitor not working when connecting frame to cabinet ground *Solved*

As the title says. I detailed a little of this in another thread. I recently had an issue with the tube on my simpsons monitor leading to me having to replace it. I lucked into someone selling a k7000 chassis/tube combo that was home use only, which was a perfect fit for the cabinet. There were...
  18. Lucked into home use only k7000 chassis and tube got a few questions

Thanks yeah this is the guide I'm following and I have all the parts ordered. The only thing I'm a bit confused on is getting that marquee tied back in with the connector. What I'm unsure about though is why the hell did that braid work on the old chassis? Maybe I'm misremembering something...
  19. Lucked into home use only k7000 chassis and tube got a few questions

Ok so there are two separate plugs. One is for the monitor. That goes straight to the transformer which outputs to the 2 prong disconnect. The other plug goes to the switcher which feeds the PCB. The marquee doesn't light up and the power switch does nothing, it was all bypassed by the previous...
