Sorry for your loss..... Like jawhn said, the tube most likely hit the back door. But that is usually because it wasn't bolted down properly. Letting the vacuum out, or standard air pressure in?? ;)

100%. Just to take up slack so it doesn't hang up or rest on something that it probably shouldn't. Pretty much the same reason you see those white ring "spacer discs" that you see when you open many CRT TV's.

Could this be a modified / repurposed TV chassis? What is this connector on the chassis? It looks a lot like a RF module adapter from the pic. TV chassis:

Has the chassis been recapped, and curl mod done?

Need to get your pots fixed first. Once that is done, then you can make the proper adjustments.

Glad you got it back going again! But certainly, if you haven't done anything with it for 15+ yrs, there is probably a bit of overdue maintenance still to be done... :)

See this pic of a similar model Kortek. The width coil on this model is mounted in a vertical position just below the fan. It appears that the width coil on yours is mounted horizontally below that large ceramic resistor mounted to the aluminum frame...

I'd think here, definitely for the width coil: But your's is broke. Like other's have said, you could possibly repair it if the windings are not damaged and intact.
