That's exactly it, don't want to damage the bottom edge of the cabinet. All 4 feet were present but the shaft had broken off from the foot so they were flopping all round. With new parts already in the shelf it seemed like a no brainer. Also saves having to tip the machine again later on

With the fan riveted back together I gave my old man a hand and we tipped it on it's side to reinstall the fan.
