POLL Dragon’s Lair partial game value?

Luck of the draw, I guess. I had discs 12-plus years ago that were rotted; I also had discs that weren't. Sure, some will outlast others, but others won't. Either way, it will happen eventually. Been there, done that, included the Merlins and Lasercons with the games when I let them go...

POLL Dragon’s Lair partial game value?

True, but they will break and then you're back to square one with regards to having it repaired, or stockpiling multiple players for the day when the inevitable breakage occurs. I'm all for originality, but DEXTER is what's going to keep laserdisc games running for the future; at this point...

POLL Dragon’s Lair partial game value?

Option 1: leave it where it is unless you have a ready line on all the other pieces. Option 2: skip the LD player and get a DEXTER. Make a back door. Track down a PCB. *Boom*, working game (assuming everything else you need is already there and functional). Option 2 isn't unrealistic, but...

    Crazy Kong versions?

Take a bunch of drugs and play the one where Kong is cyan. I don't do drugs myself, but I hear it's a fucking blast.

Went to my local “barcade” in town. Ughh

As soon as someone opens a bar themed around obsolete telephone equipment, I'm going to drink those bastards dry.

A New Shipping First: TSA Scanned Package And Would Not Allow On Flight

I had this happen with a shipment from the US to Ireland in about 1994. After spending a ridiculous amount of money on shipping, it went from a week to go from California to Dublin to 'hope you see it sometime this quarter... Or maybe the next.' Note that this was sent via DHL (who can burn in...

Went to my local “barcade” in town. Ughh

Remember: the barcade business model has nothing to do with making money from the games; it's all about selling food and drinks. This is likely someone who had a pre-existing collection trying to figure out how to make the warehouse not be a constant financial drain.

Went to my local “barcade” in town. Ughh

Our local barcade has a couple of cocktail multis with LCDs. Fortunately, they're modern-production ones, not conversions of original cabinets; everything else still uses CRTs. My real gripe with them: all of the cabinets have been drilled and fitted with drink holders. I get that they don't...

    My NEW hobby

Came into this thread expecting the answer to the title to be 'masturbation'. Standards are clearly slipping these days. In this case, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

    POLL Does anyone love Zaxxon?

Anyone who hates Zaxxon hates freedom, loud music, and pie.

What are you guys drinking tonight?

That fifth is a metric fifth. I recommend claiming back those lost 7ml asap ;)

What are you guys drinking tonight?

Unibroue's Trois Pistoles. Sailor Jerry can suck it; there's better rum out there.

    What's wrong with this picture?

He appears to have done a tremendously poor job of insulating the room in which the photo was taken. It's going to be terribly hot in the Summer and quite cold in the Winter.

It really is the train wreck I just can't look away from...

Where the hell did they find that many Track & Field cabinets? And yeah, those are all fairly awful. Love the Mario Bros. sideart cut out to accommodate the notches on the sides of the T&F.

You Are Having The Best Game Of Your Life When...

Explosive diarrhoea always takes precedence over the game. I'm just not hardcore enough to squish my way to the natural end.

When You Were A Kid In The Local Arcade.......

There was one arcade in Dublin that would power down a machine mid-game if they thought you'd been on it for too long. Got into a really heated argument with the manager over that one day when he pulled the plug while I was on level 5 of R-Type; he threatened to kick the living crap out of me...

Espial - was there side art?

Another Espial / Orca fan here as well. I also played this one a lot as a kid, and actually prefer it to Xevious in some ways. Regarding sideart: every Espial cabinet I've ever seen (which is probably all of a half-dozen) was a conversion, and I can't recall ever seeing sideart for it on them...
