I checked that one out and that's not it. In Gondomania, powerups show up when people die, and don't cost anything. In the one I'm thinking of, you get coins when people die, and spend them by flying over items that have a value attached to them. Thanks for the post, though. Cyran0

Can anyone help me remember the name of a vertical scrolling shooter in the 80's where one or two players could play a guy on a hovercraft-ish sort of vehicle. You'd shoot samurai-esque enemies, which would leave behind coins (yen?) that you could collect, and use to grab upgrades to your craft...
