  2. ZVG without DOS?

ZVG owners won't see anything surprising about this image: But it's not running from a DOS PC! I sent an e-mail to Zonn Moore asking if I could host his ZVG code on GitHub in order to to port it to Linux. Not only did he say yes, he said that someone named Brent Jarvis had already ported it...
  3. Another new vector game

I'd love to write a 3D Battlestar Galactica game based on the Star Wars cabinet. That's still a long ways off. In the meantime, I thought I'd share a 2D framework I've been playing with and a basic game. Introducing SPACE GAME (working title :-) ): OHydjptkAl8 I know there will be too many...
  4. Beercade: The Last Barfighter

One of my favorite local brewers, Big Boss Brewing, commissioned something interesting: Read all about it: http://mckinney.com/work/clients/big-boss/beercade--the-last-barfighter http://bigbossbrewing.com/
  5. Heavy game; soft floor

I'm going to install a cork floor in a room that has a Space Duel upright cabinet. I'm planning on putting the game on a piece of plywood with matching floor on top and carpet underneath (so I can slide it). How do you protect your floors?
  6. FREE - Parts: WWF Superstars

This game is in rough shape by a dumpster in Cary, NC. It's inside a locked gate of a self storage facility: http://g.co/maps/cppcr I have not talked to the owners so I can't confirm that it is free (or even available). Please contact them directly.
  7. Vectormame in party mode

Although I'd say I'm only at version 0.9, my Space Duel Vectormame is ready for an arcade night party: Al, thank you for the video series. That helped me quite a bit.
  8. ZVG and mame 0.96: games too fast?

Has anyone had an issue with games playing too fast? I start games with: dvmame %1 -r 640x480 -zvg 2 -nostretch -soundcard 1 In mame.cfg I have: frameskip = no throttle = yes vsync = no waitvsync = no All the games play too fast. Asteroids, for example, ends with an average FPS > 130. Any...
  9. Vector Mame harness intimidation

I realized this weekend that I've been putting off building the control harness for too long. I watched some Internet videos on soldering and took a crack at it. http://www.rhew.org/harness.jpg Thanks, DanP, for the inspiration.
  10. ZVGs on sale again!

As heard over on the ZVG/Linux thread. These are great fun to play with and there's no need to harm your original vector cab! Buy one: http://www.zektor.com/store/shopping.shtml
  11. Pushing the limits of WG6100 with ZVG

I was curious about how many vectors you could render with the ZVG on the WG6100. Starting with the ZVG demo, I added some movement and started drawing little boxes at the bottom of the screen. At about 160 little boxes, I started to see some issues. cZivypveE3o Has anyone else played with...
  12. Hardware for Vector Mame CP

Vector Mame CP hardware advice? I'm getting ready to build a control panel to swap onto a Space Duel. Do those of you with vector Mame experience have any advice? CP: I'm looking forward to trying the grill method for cleaning up the CP. I'm also looking forward to sending spacies $5 and...
  13. Quick evening project

My Space Duel had some extra lines projecting from the center of the screen. A quick read in the manual told me that this can be a result of the brightness turned up too high: Only one problem, I don't have a key for the lock on the back. Time to break out the drill ;-) The inside tongs...
  14. New game (Space Duel), new user (haywood)

A friend of mine asked if I'd provide a good home for his Space Duel cabinet. I've always wanted an upright and there's a special place in my heart for vectors. Of course I took it :-) I liked this game in the arcade but was turned off by the geometrical shapes. Now that it's here, the...
