What the heck is that rant supposed to be about?
I guess no one wants real help around here from someone who has been working with electronics for decades. I have deleted the information provided to the original poster and will no longer post answers to repair issues here.
I guess I will leave...
Re: Get ready to LOATHE me... (Holy Grail acquired!)
You $U(K !!!!!
I have a Ms. cocktail I fully restored, a Pac upright that is in dire need of 100% new artwork (no hope of recovery), a Ms. mini I fully restored and another Ms. mini missing CP/Mon/Bezel and broken marquee.
I'd gladly...
Those numbers seem low. Fully working, they go for twice that on eBay (counting non shilled sold auctions). I'd say add 50% to those values for what most people would consider paying and you're about on the real value.
Heck the PCB's alone are bringing in around $60 + $15 shipping for fully...
Re: Normal-? Turning off cab,I see a white dot-monitor
I assume you mean the picture tube is a Samsung?
What's happening is that the power to the deflection circuit is being lost before the power to the high voltage and guns is being lost.
Therefore the yoke no longer traces left to right/up...
Most people go with PartsExpress.com. They have black, cherry, oak, and a few others. Meant for home built speakers, it's more durable than shelf laminate, but is not as durable as say control panel overlays.
About $15 for a 24" x 10 foot roll.
You can get new monitors/chassis/frame combos for around $170 + shipping. If you have knowlege you can build one out of donated picture tubes (from your home, rummage sales, thrift stores) for $55 to $75 + donated tube + build wood frame/put in extra arcade frame.
The problem with Clay's kit is there are only 24 games, and of them there are very few 'original' games, simply hacks.
Where Mike/Dave's 96 kit also features more hacks, it also has more original games. The only 2 unique games that their kit lacks that Clay's has is Lizzard Wizard and Crush...
I'm a big pac collector and had NO problems upgrading to any of the 3 common kits out there:
- Richard C's 11-in-one
- Clay's 24-in-one
- Mike/Dave's 96-in-one
They all install and uninstall easily. No damage (Rich's required 2 tiny solders to a resistor to add a reset).
The nice thing about...
The emulator was possibly legal up til the DMCA came out. Now a portion of the code in Mame is clearly illegal (per the DMCA only) due to the DMCA reverse engineering restrictions. Unless something changes, the DMCA will never allow Mame to be 'legal', especially when Mame ships ALL the code...
Best guess is that an electrolyic capacitor exploded (pop) but that usually is accompanied by a horrible smell and smoke and visible acid on stuff.
The next guess is that it blew the fuse as the seller stated, but monitors (or any electronics) dont blow a fuse for no reason. Therefore my first...
A Mini cab was recently listed on eBay (rarer than the upright) and IIRC it didn't sell at least 2 times and had a low price on it.
It's yet another game that most people don't remember/didn't play. Even though not many were made (or are left), it's just not one most people want, so it doesn't...
RadioShack, BobRoberts, ArcadeShop all have them.
They are basically nylon or plastic hex (allen) wrenches that allow you to turn the ferite core when it's on. Inserting metal into a coil causes it to heat up quickly and also affects the inductance of the device, meaning if you use a metal one...
Thanks much!... Placed an order and added some sockets, now am just waiting for confirmation.
To meet the minimum order amount, I also ordered some other less common chips on the board around in the same area (HD14016, TL084N) just in case they're bad too since they're immediately past the two...
Turn it on centered over the tube, keeping the loop flat, parallel to the tube. Keep making concentric rings over the monitor slowly widening the size of each circle you make with it until you are now along the outside of the monitor then slowly pull it away from the monitor while you are still...
DON'T USE A PERMANENT MAGNET!!!
You will typically make it worse. If you're lucky it might just work and you might not permanently magnetize something.
Using a permanent magnet, depending on how strong it is, can even bend the shadow mask itself, ruining the tube.
Only use a alternating...
TI chips are notorius for tarnishing and breaking off pins. They also were made with very thin legs that complicate the problem.
Depending on the part number, the replacement chips are typically very easy to find and not too expensive.
Also, if the chip itself is still good, you can easily...
