yes just got an email from the company they are pp caps 200 v the i fired the monitor up again today had another play with the width coil ,absolutly nothing both sides have a bit of a bow in them so im pretty sure its the caps,hoping thats all it is. seems all the machines i buy on auctions...

Just for future reference,i fixed the problem. i pulled the 3 rom boards i was cheaking if there was a battery ,nothing so i put it all back together and bamo its now fully working. A big thanks to those that helped me:)

whast about a cmos battery does anyone know if the board contains one of those?

Thanks kenlayton thats all i needed to know im guessing ill have to adjust the width coil again and because there is no reaction to turning at the moment that by replacing the 2 caps will allow everything to work as it should.all the solder joints are good on the back of the monitor so no bad...
