DECO Cassette System Monitor Identification Help

When it comes to flybacks, does it have to be the exact same model or are there several models that may be compatible?

DECO Cassette System Monitor Identification Help

I'm in no hurry. I'd rather get this right the first time than buy something that won't work.

DECO Cassette System Monitor Identification Help

I didn't find a part number of the flyback itself, but I did find one on this part which the flyback plugs into (not sure what it is exactly). KT5100 2F115

DECO Cassette System Monitor Identification Help

That's so weird. Maybe another DECO Cassette System owner might know?

DECO Cassette System Monitor Identification Help

Nope, I don't see anything on the flyback. If it had a sticker it fell off long ago.

DECO Cassette System Monitor Identification Help

Not that I can see, unless it's under all that crud. I'll try cleaning it off and check.

DECO Cassette System Monitor Identification Help

Yeah I'll definitely need some help getting this out. Of course before I can even think about doing repairs I need to figure out what this monitor is. I wonder if all Sanwa flybacks are the same?

DECO Cassette System Monitor Identification Help

Good question. I'll have to take a look. Is that a common thing?

DECO Cassette System Monitor Identification Help

Thank you, that's why I'm very keen on getting this back into working shape. As you can see from the new pictures I took (sorry for the quality, but my basement is really poor lightning) the wood plank the circuit board is on is attached to the chassis if the front (bolted to the bottom of it)...

DECO Cassette System Monitor Identification Help

Yes and the monitor board says 20I10 on it as well (see pic). Not easily. The board is bolted to a piece of wood that's held into the cabinet at an angle. I'm not sure what the logistics are of getting that out. I'm still very new to this.

DECO Cassette System Monitor Identification Help

Whoops, I guess this needs to be moved to the monitor section. Sorry about that.

DECO Cassette System Monitor Identification Help

I have an full upright DECO Cassette System that has a bad monitor. It was working fine then a blue spark shot out the back and now I'm not getting any picture (the game itself still works though, I can hear it). I noticed the fuse on the monitor board had blown so I replaced that and tried...

Dead Monitor in DECO Cassette System

Yeah I'm sure the monitor is just fine minus whatever fried. Where would I look to find someone? I'm in SE Michigan.

Dead Monitor in DECO Cassette System

Since I don't think this is something I can do on my own (I'm not into High Voltage repairs) I looked up local arcade repair people in my area and found one that comes very highly recommended. He doesn't repair my specific monitor, but he says he can replace it with a nice Sanyo Ez 20 for...

Dead Monitor in DECO Cassette System

Yes there's no power going to the CRT as far as I can tell (no hum, no glow). How do you test the flyback? That's HV stuff.

Dead Monitor in DECO Cassette System

Given the big blue spark, would that indicate something like the flyback or could that have been any component?

Dead Monitor in DECO Cassette System

Yes it does, I didn't realize how dirty it was inside because I never had to go into the back. Other than the fuses, what should I be looking for to see if a component is bad? Everything seems to *look* ok, but I'd like to narrow down things I need to test. Also what is that cap looking...

Dead Monitor in DECO Cassette System

I can start with that. I've got a cheapo multimeter I can use. What is that black square thing in the first picture labeled TLN102? I can't tell if that gunk on it is just glue/crud or if it's exploded goo.

Dead Monitor in DECO Cassette System

I'm not sure. There's two I can see. One in front of the power transformer (called Fuse 1A) that looks intact, but the second I can see is right underneath the monitor so it's hard to see and get to (you can see it in the upper left corner of the last picture). I don't see any black marks on...

Dead Monitor in DECO Cassette System

After over a year of not turning my DECO Cassette System on, I plugged it in and started to play a game of BurgerTime. After a few minutes of playing there was a big spark in the back of the cabinet (I had the door open and could see it) and then the monitor went dead. The arcade board is fine...
