I am almost positive that it does not send a signal, to include the menu, until all wires are connected. Even if you mistakenly connect the sync wrong, the signal shows up in the screen for only a few seconds, then goes away. Remember you also have to change the dip-switch setting to switch it...

Check to be sure what voltages you are getting to the edge connector. Report back. While you have it disconnected, use an eraser to clean the metal pads at the edge of the board where it connects. Reconnect and see what you get. Report back. Use a magnifying glass to go over the board and...

I had been looking for this FOR YEARS, and finally found it... on eBay... in the U.K.... I won't even mention what I GLADLY overpaid for it. IMO, this is a great deal. Free bump for an old NES favorite!
