I ended up pulling and testing every transistor and diode on the HV board. They all checked out fine. Removed the HVT: I get continuity from Pin 1 (lowest on the right) to pins 3, 6, 9, and 11 (with 11 being lowest on the left). Run the same test on a known working HVT gives me continuity on...

Rectifier diodes were my first port of call. It's not the deflection board though. Deflection board works fine in one of my other 6100s.

Cheers Dez, but yeah, using 6AMP. I can see me checking every component here and still getting nowhere. None of this is making sense to me. 50% of the time one of the transitors at Q102 / Q103 gets taken out when the fuse blows.

Thanks Dez. Replaced the cap, and removed the short. Powered up and F101 blows. HV board is P316: Swapped in a known working HV board and monitor runs fine. So far on the faulty P316 HV board I've tested: R901, R907, R913, R917 they all check out fine - although R901 crumbled still reads...

Quick update. Q900 not shorted to cage. And tests fine. But I have continuity across pins 1,2 and 3 at J900. I also have continuity across the cap at C901. So advice above looks spot on. Shorted cap C901. Will replace and see where that takes me. Optimistic though.

I had the same issue with a Robotron. All 3 LEDs lit. Plug in the boards and the +5 disappeared. Check the pins in the molex connector. On mine, the pin carrying the +5 was burnt up. Replaced the pin, problem solved. Edit: I think it was actually the connector from the heat sink to power board.

Very cool. To change from 8 pin to 10 pin - was that achieved by swapping the K7000 8 pin neck card, for a 10 pin K7000 neck card? Or is there another way to do this?
