    Lines through moving sprites Pacman

Finally figured this out. I fixed the broken trace between pins 12 of 5E/F. What I should have done was remove the socket as well, not just add a jumper. Where the trace and lifted, it had shifted over enough that when the socket was pushed down, pin 12 of 5F was now shorted to pin 11 of 5E...

    Lines through moving sprites Pacman

I checked the whole row 5. anything socketed tests good in the tester and the rest probes identical to a working PCB. I've added different pics above. you can see a white line above all the ghosts heads, the distorted lettering, and white dots in the corners of the maze. Groups of white pixels...

    Lines through moving sprites Pacman

Weirdest problem. When I fixed the trace, the lines in sprites are gone, but then the screen goes like this. Haven't seen anything like this. When I remove the fixed trace, the screen goes normal and this problem returns.

    Lines through moving sprites Pacman

Thanks HA, had a bad trace between 5E and 5F. That fixed the lines through the sprites but led to other graphic glitches. I'll keep digging at it.

Yes, new sockets Do you mean p12 of 2a-2d?,,,1a-1d are not populated

    Lines through moving sprites Pacman

This board is almost complete. After multiple problems, the only thing to figure is there are lines through all moving sprites (ghost, PM, moving cherry). I have swapped the motion rams from 2A-2D with no change. This is not related to 5E or F. I have swapped them with a know working. Pin 14...

Pacman audio issue,,what am I missing???

I've been working on a spare PM. It's had a lot of issues but I now have it working. There is a slight sound issue. Everything sounds the same, no static. Eating pellets sound like eating a ghost, but maybe a different pattern of tone. There is no noise or "music" when you eat a power pellet...

Need Help, Strange Pacman problem. Solved!!

I've been working on a spare PM PCB. It had some problems but now I'm kinda stuck. The game boots up and sits at attract. Press P1 and it starts. Pacman goes right or left and just sits there. The controller does not work at all (in the cab or on the bench). Also, sometimes after he eats a...

    Totally dead Pac board

What Sam said for sure. If you don't have a probe, you should get one. It's a must for basic troubleshooting like this.

    Strange Ms Pac problem

Good call!! Checked the voltage, was down to about 4.3V. Was able to get it back up to almost 4.9V and worked fine. Thanks

    Strange Ms Pac problem

Been refurbing my Two Pac pcb's. I have them both up and running. I have the one converted to Ms pac via the 2 extra 2532. Both boards work great on the test bench. My pac runs great on the bench and the cab. However, when I put the Ps Pac in the cab, a lot of the video seems pretty corrupt. Put...

POLL What device programmer do you use.

OK, sorry bout that, I misinterpreted what you said. I've read up some on the adapter but was on the assumption you couldn't write with it, however, I think it may have been on the Atariage forums or something like that, the 2532 in fact only uses 21V to write, although it states 25V. I will...

POLL What device programmer do you use.

I just bought the T48 and there is zero support for any 25xx chip which require 25V. I also have a GQ-4X but I find over time it gets weak or something and now is very finicky with 2532's, especially the TMS. Unless you know something I don't, but I don't see any 25xx support in their list..

    Golden Tee Fore! keeps rebooting

It’s been so long since I worked on a GT Fore. Do a quick search for GT Fore or Golden Tee Fore. There’s lots of info about voltage and video boards and reasons for not booting. Search on Google as well

    Sideart application. Wet vs. dry

It was a complete printed side art. I used the wet method. I find it went pretty good. It wasn't the greatest quality of print though. Wet method much easier to move the air pockets.
