I have not come across this monitor in Australia, but one thing i always check when i hear a tick is turn off all the lights and look at the annode cap and HV unit. Sometimes it gets dirty under there when you remove it to restore the chassis, if it is that clean the area then apply new grease...

Thanks for that i did abit of googling but couldn't find anything. I was worried when i washed the board i might have thrown the xtal out or damaged it. However i did some more readin into the operation of the chip and apparently a failed checksum of the eproms would result in a watchdog reset...

Just waiting on some parts to arrive, is there anyone with knowledge on how the 8080 preforms ? I am learning towards this might be a clock issue or the 8080 bus. Can somone confirm the expected output of the reset pin?

You actually dont even have to build an adapter i have since found out, the GQ4-x can actually program and read without one, you just need to lift one pin and suply it -5 volts, and from there just create a new device and give it right voltage settings and pulse time for programming,
