Something I've noticed is whenever I exit from the top or the bottom, the generation of the next room makes it far more awkward and difficult to survive than exiting laterally. But the real trick is simply to not get hit ;)

If you ever find yourself playing the default game (Mine Storm) at one point there will be invisible enemies.. You can cheese this by turning the brightness up, it makes them (kind of) visible.
