  1. WTB: 3-Player Rampart (SF Bay Area)

I was wondering if anyone has a 3-player Rampart for sale. I'm located in the San Francisco Bay area.
  2. Anyone else Collect Redemption Machines too!??!?

I have a vintage Clean Sweep claw machine from Smart Industries. Unfortunately the playfield was made of particle board and it's completely disintegrated. I've been meaning to make a new one out of plywood and laminate, but I need access to a table saw. I may borrow the one at work over...
  3. Joust Error ROM 9, now won't boot. Jailbars.

Well, I just picked up and renovated a 1970s plaid sleeper sofa to complete my 1980s living room setup. Goes great with my RCA TV and VHS collection. So confirmed dork. 🤓
  4. Joust Error ROM 9, now won't boot. Jailbars.

Yeah, but I like it. :) Makes it more "arcadey." :D Plus, this gives me an excuse to make some matching keychains to affix to the keys. Although, I might just buy a pack of 20 locks with the same key. That way I can lose that key and have to buy 20 more. :P
  5. Joust Error ROM 9, now won't boot. Jailbars.

@ArcadeTechGW It's not worth getting new keys made. They were like $5.
  6. Joust Error ROM 9, now won't boot. Jailbars.

@mecha I still have the keys for the rear door, which is the aggravating part. I could've sworn all three locks were the same key. But for the life of me I can't get either the coin door or coin box locks to open. Those cheap barrel locks. I'll have to order a new set. My Crystal Castles is...
  7. Joust Error ROM 9, now won't boot. Jailbars.

I replaced the locks on the Joust cuz it didn't come with the keys, so I had to drill it out. And now I can't find the keys for the new locks I put on the coin door. Fortunately I can still get to it from the rear. Ugh.
  8. Joust Error ROM 9, now won't boot. Jailbars.

@KazooBR I'll hold onto them as backups and just mark it down as preventative maintenance.
  9. Joust Error ROM 9, now won't boot. Jailbars.

:love::love::love::love: And now I also have a legal set of ROMs for MAME made from my own machine. Well, all but one. Weee! Thank you everyone for you help!
  10. AGE Beanie Zone claw machine power supply died

Hazzah! It's working again. Crimped the spade connectors. Also a bit of solder just for extra measure. I might go in and replace the rats nest of wire nuts with some Wago connectors. Those things always freak me out. Thank you everyone for the help, even though I ended up just replacing...
  11. AGE Beanie Zone claw machine power supply died

OK, thank you. Gonna pick up some spade connectors to crimp and wire it into the power supply.
  12. Best low cost ROM programmer?

@KazooBR OK, thank you. I'll find out tomorrow when my programmer arrives. If my local store has different brands, I'll buy different ones. Searching on the forums, looks like some people did well with Hitachi, but not with Texas Instrument.
  13. Best low cost ROM programmer?

Oh. I have green label Joust. I think those are EPROMs. I may have lucked out! In any event, my local surplus store has 2532s, 2732s, and 2716s. I'll grab a couple each just so I have some just in case. I also have a Defender that uses the same ROM types.
  14. Best low cost ROM programmer?

@Scott C Apologies for this really stupid question, but I'm completely new to ROM programming: unless the ROM is damaged, theoretically I should be able to take out the offending ROM, remove the label, put it in the UV eraser, set the timer to expose it for a few minutes, then write back to...
  15. Best low cost ROM programmer?

Thanks everyone for your responses. I think I'll go with the pre-packed GQ-4x4. I like that's USB and easy to use. I know I said low cost, but that's low cost compared to other units I was looking at. I'm only going to use it to read and write ROMs.
  16. AGE Beanie Zone claw machine power supply died

@Jb1215 Does the info in this thread look correct to you? Orange is 24V Yellow is 12V Red is 5V The 2 Black are Negative (or common)
  17. AGE Beanie Zone claw machine power supply died

Replaced the PWM control. It no long blows fuses, but doesn't produce any voltage. So I give up. My problem now is that neither the power supply or the PCB for the game tell me what voltages it needs. So I have no idea what-so-ever what to replace it with or how I'd wire it up even if I did.
  18. Best low cost ROM programmer?

I figured I'd get a reader/programmer. I also fiddle with vintage computers, and there's also an effort in that community to back up ROMs from various hardware. I've done some research, and it seems like I'll want one that supports 25v VPP, which appear to be used often in arcades. I've...
  19. FIXED: Playchoice 10 dual monitor issue

I recently fixed my Joust monitor that kept losing sync. Turned out it was a cracked solder joint on one of the pin headers.
  20. AGE Beanie Zone claw machine power supply died

The last thing I can do is try replacing the UC3842 PWM controller. Everything else seems fine. So I don't know. Last thing I'll try before trying to source a replacement power supply. I need to get it working before Halloween. :(
