I have a generic Z-back cab and cannot figure out how to remove the marquee. There is a lock on top, which I don't have the key for and have drilled out. Does this lock hold the marquee in place? How does it remove once it is unlocked? (i.e. does it slide up, pull off, etc)?

I am restoring a Centipede cocktail and have ordered new CPOs. I was just wondering how most people here treat the metal under the overlay? Do you usually prime and paint it before applying the CPO? I am assuming rustoleum or sometihng is sufficient.
