  1. Does my Midway Space Invaders have a hack on it?

Curious if anyone ever figured this out?
  2. Midway Space Invaders has me stumped

Did a bunch of probing last night with my scope and identified 2 LM3900's and the CD4006 as suspect. Replaced all three this morning and now I have all my missing sounds back. 3 for 3 ain't bad!!! The only remaining issue is the length of the missile sound. It's way too long. Does anyone know...
  3. Midway Space Invaders has me stumped

Haven't gotten around to fixing the sounds yet, but thought I'd share the little adaptor board I made for the SN75365. So no mods to the mother board what so ever.
  4. Midway Space Invaders has me stumped

FIXED!! I ordered a SN75365 as it was the cheapest part I could find. The 3245's were pretty spenny. Had it shipped from France and in total it cost $7. I have temporarily wired it up using jumper leads as per the instructions. Surprise surprise, the game fired up right away. The RAM had...
  5. Midway Guided Missile repair

The schematic pretty much tells you everything. http://arcarc.xmission.com/PDF_Arcade_Bally_Midway/Guided%20Missile%20-%20gameboard%20schematics.pdf Phil
  6. Guided missle and Eproms

Oh, you've made a bit of a mess of that. Are you sure the bare wires that overlap are not shorting on each other?
  7. Guided missle and Eproms

EPROMs the right way around? Pin 1 closest to the edge of the board?
  8. Guided missle and Eproms

    Should be good.
  9. Guided missle and Eproms

With the new strapping you should be suing 2716 EPROMs for everything (test and game EPROM's). Make sure you aren't using TMS2716's as these are different EPROMs. Yes, for me it was as simple as re-strapping and burning new 2716 EPROMs. These are the ROM images I used...
  10. Midway Guided Missile repair

For completeness here is the rest of the fixes for the sound board: • Generally many sound missing - Replace 74174 with stuck outputs at E3 brought back some sounds, but not all. • No Jet sound - Replace LM3900 @ P3 • No Tank sound - Replace LM3900 @ R4 • Left Missile sound not right - Replace...
  11. Building a JAMMA adaptor for a 2 speaker board

Thank for all the info guys. I'll look into those links and see what I can figure out. Phil
  12. Guided missle and Eproms

There was a dead chip in the video sync circuit. Yes, 4 ROMs.
  13. Guided missle and Eproms

Now that I have my Guided Missile up and running I can confirm these jumpers. Taken a better photo for you. Phil
  14. Building a JAMMA adaptor for a 2 speaker board

Could do, but would prefer for everything to go through the supergun's inputs and output via the supeguns din plug. Phil
  15. Building a JAMMA adaptor for a 2 speaker board

Hi all, I'm presently finishing off a JAMMA adaptor for a Midway Guided Missile to play it on my supergun. Everything is hooked up and working except the speakers. The Guided Missile had two speaker outputs where different sounds play through each speaker, and I was wondering how I should...
  16. Midway Guided Missile repair

Ah...now there's the answer I was hoping for. Who would have thought GM had a RAM test, and that it looked like that. Switching the DIP setting has solve the problem...if you can call it a problem! Much thanks to Stoog, and blinddog for making me feel humble. Next I'll complete the JAMMA...
  17. Midway Guided Missile repair

Seems I can get it to work once in about 100 reset!!! Had it up and running 3 times now. Last time I even hooked up some jumper wires to some of the controls and played a game all while shorting the wires to GND. Fun times. I will look into the exact needs of the reset line. Phil
  18. Midway Guided Missile repair

Ok, some progress. I was able to get the machine to boot properly. I have no idea how I did it, and I've only been able to do it once :-( Basically I powered up the board, then I manually reset, which involves shorting the reset line between GND and 5V, and then the screen starts to do the up...
  19. Guided missle and Eproms

It seems to work enough to display the test screen, test RAM, and give the CRC coded for all the ROM's. The CRC codes are correct, so again, I can only assume the jumpers are correct. https://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=412010&page=2 I do get a bit error, but I'm not sure if that...
  20. Guided missle and Eproms

A 10 second search reveals: http://www.outerworldarcade.com/arcade/space_invaders/space_invaders_test_rom.html Burn it to a 2716 EPROM, and drop it into location H Phil
