    Space Ace Dedicated

I'm personally shocked by just how high the price on games have become. That said, your looking at close to $3K Also, your laserdisc control ribbon cable is installed backwards on the main board. Flip it around 180 deg. (the red stripe must be on pin-13), and try starting it again.

Mine are also the ARKEY. Yes, there are many parts with two versions. G07 Vs WG4900 for example. Both are equally original.

    Dragon's Lair Restoration

I like your work Paul, the project is coming along great. Your main board looks to be all original and in good condition. I like that you are keeping the original power supply. The touch up on the transformers look great, and the new label on the iso is a nice touch! I'd just put a little glue...

    Dragon's Lair Drawer parts

Here is a picture of the serial stamp... This is the upper panel from my own cabinet. The serial is LD-07922. Ignore the 6394 that some OP put on there. Next is a closeup of the stamp near the top...

    Dragon's Lair Drawer parts

The serial number is pressed into the wood of the upper back panel. It's usually very hard to see unless the lighting and viewing angle are just right. Only cabinets that came with an LD-V1000 player need the plate. That's at serial numbers above about 5000. An easier way to tell is to look...

    Dragon's Lair Drawer parts

I may have been wrong about the removal of the V1000's feet. But the plate is supposed to be screwed to the bottom of the player so you can't just lift it out, and it can't move in shipping. It's cool that you have yours. A lot of those plates were lost.

Dragon's Lair Restoration - Trouble With Laser Ace Setup

I have had reports of dead serial ports on the laserdisc players. It's not common, but it does happen. The only way to test the player's port would be to connect it to an old PC with a serial port and the right software. Do you have an old PC? Another option... Send me your LaserAce, and I'll...

FS Parts: NEW Dragon's Lair/Space Ace arcade air filter

A bigger issue than the incoming air filter, is the exhaust filter covering the cooling fan. If you take the cooling fan assembly off of the cabinet, you will find that the fan has been blowing into this fine mesh filter. The result after 40 years is that the filter is blocked up, completely...

    Dragon's Lair Drawer parts

The vibration isolators are positioned for the PR-7820 laserdisc player. The feet of the player are removed, and bolts go up through the isolators into the where the feet were. With the LD-V1000 laserdisc player, the feet are removed and a metal mounting plate is attached to the bottom of the...

I think that's a monitor neck guard. It's not part of the DL cabinet.

    Rest in Peace, alggamer

I'm in shock. I was just chatting with Dan on the 25th. He wanted to do a free play mod on his Cobra Command. He never said anything about his health. I always hung out with him at CAX. He was one of the best people. I consider him a good friend. This hurts. He will be missed. :(

Dragon's Lair Restoration - Trouble With Laser Ace Setup

Download the LD-V8000 manual Level 1&3 On appendix D page D-1 you will find the cable pin to pin wiring. Long shot here, but If you happen to have an old computer with Win98/95/ME on it, you can use Hyperterminal (I think that is what it was called) to send commands to the player and see its...

Dragon's Lair Restoration - Trouble With Laser Ace Setup

It's looking like a communication problem with the V8000. Did you try both codes for the LD-V8000, 22 and 24? When you did a reset earlier, the baud rate stuff should have all defaulted to the correct settings, but re-check them. On page P-5 9600 baud, no parity, 1-bit, 8-bits, <CR> If all of...

Dragon's Lair Restoration - Trouble With Laser Ace Setup

The manual puts a lot of importance on the power switch. It looks in your picture like it is currently set for "power from the game". Is that correct? or are you using a 9V power supply? It also has different output player flash codes if you have an early board or a later one. You have no...

Dragon's Lair Restoration - Trouble With Laser Ace Setup

I should explain that the LD-V8000 has its own internal computer than can be programmed for interactive kiosks and such. It can also be set to read and execute a pre-recorded program embedded into certain laserdiscs. When either of these cases are set active, the "Program Run" LED on the front...

Dragon's Lair Restoration - Trouble With Laser Ace Setup

I don't have any personal experience with the LaserAce board, but I do know the LD-V8000. It looks like the "Program Run" light is on. Follow these steps to reset and configure the V8000... --------------- Enter the settings menu by holding-in the "display" button while you push in the power...

    Dexter laserdisc emulator

Dexter will detect the disc and select the proper player to match. You should change the default disc to Mad Dog. Yep! it's likely the solder under the BNC connector. Good find!
