Do you play better or worse depending on your mood

I am upset because I don't have a Red Barron. Not sure that helps me with Donkey Kong.

Does an Arcade need to have pinball machines?

Most arcades when I was a kid had at least some pins. I rarely played them. Cost too much for the play time. Now it's a different story. Play at home for free or by the hour at a pinball arcade. Better value. Pins are like sex. The best 3 minutes of your life.

    Where were you in '86?

30 years ago today. Senior in HS. It happened during lunch and we watched it in person. I lived in FL at the time. Sad day in history. :(

New arcade toy !! (dodge ram 1500)

I've got the Rhino spray in and like it. It does have a gouge in it from a screw that was sticking out the back of a game. I've had the drop in plastic liner before too. That one held up well, but things tend to slide out. I like the spray in as it holds down the sliding around of cargo quite a bit.

Become a Patron Saint of Tech-Noir Pizza + Arcade

Went out for pizza last night before 6pm. The local pizza shop was packed, so we went across the street to the local sports bar which makes a good pizza. It was packed too. We ended up at a Mexican restaurant. Now I've got pizza withdrawal symptoms. :004_ssad:

Why did you start collecting games?

I didn't think of video games for almost thirty years. Then a few years back, I thought it would be cool to have ONE for the basement. They are like M&Ms, you can't just have one.

    Compressor & Spray Gun Question

I have a 60 gal. that can keep up with a paint gun, but it runs on 220v and is bolted to the floor. If you want something portable you better go with rattle cans or you will be disappointed. Most 33 gal. compressors usually come with wheels and run on 110v. They aren't very mobile, due to...

    Is it cheating???

I can remember an Asteroids at the local pizza shop BITD that was set to 5 lives. I gladly donated my valuable quarters to that game.

    Is it cheating???

Somehow when I was working on my DKjr, I changed the settings to 5 lives. Most of my games are still set to where they were when I bought them. Asteroids is set to 5 lives. Do you consider it cheating to have a game set easier than it was BITD at the arcade? I'm not talking about mods or...

    DK Jr. - Dead Controls

Fixed. I had a little more time to take a look at the problem. I had taken the control panel off to install the T molding but I did not disconnect it. I must have pulled too hard on the wires and a couple of them pulled slightly out of the connector. One of them being the ground. Simple fix...

    DK Jr. - Dead Controls

I'm putting the finishing touches restoring DKjr this past weekend, including painting the coin door and replacing T molding. I put her on her back and started pounding in the T molding with a rubber mallet covered with a sock. Apparently, 35 year old electronics didn't like the roughness. When...

Is side art that important really?

I try to restore mine cosmetically as well as mechanically (when I have time). I do it because it is my hobby.

circular saw recommendations (for ripping down 4x8ft sheets)

Another vote for Makita. At $125 they are not that much more than the cheap saws considering you will get 10+ years use out of them. Also, much of the quality of cut is in the blade. Spend more for some good blades. I still have the Craftsman saw I bought 25 years ago and it works fine, but...

    Pinball v Video

Picked up a Dealers Choice today. It is in very good shape. No project pin until I know my way around. It looks like the hardest thing about working on these will be figuring out which part is causing the problem. The number of parts in this thing is overwhelming. Thread link with pics...
