  1. GO5-802 - (Asteroids) Plays Blind, Spot Killer Lit, 2 Bad Frame Transistors

Thanks for this idea! If I turn it off for a minute then back on, the problem is not there.
  2. GO5-802 - (Asteroids) Plays Blind, Spot Killer Lit, 2 Bad Frame Transistors

Yeah, and andrewb said if they test fine, they're probably fine and not to replace too many components. I only replaced them because they were NTEs.
  3. GO5-802 - (Asteroids) Plays Blind, Spot Killer Lit, 2 Bad Frame Transistors

We get signal, main screen turn on! I replaced the D608 diode, the 2 Y-axis bottlecap transistors, and the fuse. Tested it, no spot killer, and it was trying to come up, but wouldn't. So I replaced the MPS-UXX transistors in the Y axis, and it came up. Since they all were NTEs and I had...
  4. GO5-802 - (Asteroids) Plays Blind, Spot Killer Lit, 2 Bad Frame Transistors

No visibly brown/charred resistors. Ok to skip testing them all? All TO-92 test good out-of-circuit. Testing them again in-circuit, they still seem fine... the extra false positive in the other direction makes me uneasy. UXX test fine out-of-circuit, I know they can still be bad under load...
  5. GO5-802 - (Asteroids) Plays Blind, Spot Killer Lit, 2 Bad Frame Transistors

The UXX transistors tested fine off the board, but I'll take your word for it. I'll replace the TO-92s too, even though they tested fine - I think I even have them on hand. Sounds like the discipline is to just replace everything, shotgunning is my style anyway.
  6. GO5-802 - (Asteroids) Plays Blind, Spot Killer Lit, 2 Bad Frame Transistors

Bingo, it's dead. I'll do my due diligence and check all the resistors when I get a chance.
  7. GO5-802 - (Asteroids) Plays Blind, Spot Killer Lit, 2 Bad Frame Transistors

I tested all the transistors in the Y circuit, and they were all good.
  8. GO5-802 - (Asteroids) Plays Blind, Spot Killer Lit, 2 Bad Frame Transistors

Looks like the next step is to test all diodes and resistors in the Y circuit. I'll double check the game board outputs and dig deeper into the 6100 guide.
  9. GO5-802 - (Asteroids) Plays Blind, Spot Killer Lit, 2 Bad Frame Transistors

The short description is: F600 is blown and the 2 Y-circuit frame transistors are bad. I've read that bad frame transistors can be a symptom of some other problem. If I just replace all the components, are they probably just going to blow again? Is there some further investigation/testing I...
  10. Microsoft to buy Activision Blizzard in $68.7 Billion deal...

Maybe we'll get to see Pitfall IV.
  11. Marc Mandeltort (of marcospecialties.com - vendor of all things pinball) - RIP 1954-2021

RIP :( I'm not really a pinhead, but whenever I need pinball parts, I automatically think, "Marco Specialties".
  12. Jeff Kinder's Home Arcade 2.0

I have one and it's too many!
  13. Cabinet ID - need help

Man that was a crazy episode of Salute Your Shorts.
  14. Ken Layton has passed away

Oh man, I am so sad. Ken was an absolute legend.
  15. Video Pirates Beware flyer

Yes, but nobody wants a copy of that one.
  16. Fun Chicken/Egg Machines via Arduino?

I did it with a Raspberry Pi. The Pi has a GPIO pin connected to the coin switch, then plays an mp3 through the attached amp, and it fires off the relay to start the machine action. I can't remember how it stops, it either does it automatically, or there is a motion based switch the PI is...
  17. Fun Chicken Club

Wow, that thing is in amazing shape. Congrats on the pickup!
  18. KLOV buy/sell etiquette
