    Garbled Galaga

Same, it was the first Arcade PCB I worked on and the most frustrating given the little experience I had back then.

Disregard. Degaussing seems to have resolved the issue.

    Monitor experts - Commodore 1701

Picked up a PAL 1701 (240V European model) that was suffering from frame collapse, now resolved after replacing a few failed components. Just waiting on a replacement shielded speaker, as the original failed open. I'm feeding composite video from the 240p Test Suite via MiSTer, and there are...

KONAMI - Road Fighter Test ROM

Thanks for that. They are indeed bootlegs but I was able to compare one of the board types to an original KONAMI for sale on eBay. Socket locations are the same as they are in Hyper Sports diagnostic ROM goes into socket G15 as the filename suggest.

KONAMI - Road Fighter Test ROM

Hi All. I've been holding on to this for awhile but have been meaning to share it. Here's an early version. Currently only handles power up tests whilst I figure out how to cram in the diagnostic mode display of the program on a rotated/vertical screen. Finding it a little difficult to get a...

FIXED - Tutankham collision detection and video issue

What a fun way to learn 6809 asm. I cut my teeth on the 6809 when I developed the T&F test rom.

Konami (Centuri) Track & Field help

You have to set one of the DIP switches ( DIP 8 of SW2 ) to to test the NVRAM, this is intentional because some people want their high scores intact. Also I am unable to read all the labels on the EPROMs on your logic board. Don't think that's your problem though, check the nvram.

You can post your question in there and you should definitely get some responses, there are several people in the U.S repairing this era of Konami boards.

    That Shoestring character...

Thanks for the shout-out @channelmanic It was worth the effort disassembling the Hypersports rom I wrote ( after losing the source code ) and re-working it but still need to get around to finishing the diagnostic mode.

HELP - Gyruss Bootleg no Sprites

I know this is a long shot but have you verified the sprite roms, data output & enables ? My test rom can't evaluate those. Normally you would expect some artefacts but you just never know.

HELP - Gyruss Bootleg no Sprites

There's a tonne of Fujitsus on that board too. Good thing that its a bootleg. so no custom chips that could kill your project. Sorry I don't have much info or experience on this board. I'm sure someone else can point you in the right direction.

Hakko question - desoldering station differences

It was cheaper for me to get the 100vac version from Japan plus a stepdown than it was to get a 240v version ( fr301-43 ) which cost between $700-$900 here in AU, ridiculous. Whilst it might be safe to run these on U.S mains, I still wouldn't risk it. I'd be worried about decreasing the life...

Track N Field board issues / question about about differences / who repairs

There are several people who repair Konami boards in the U.S. You might be waiting awhile as there is quite a backlog.

Track N Field board issues / question about about differences / who repairs

They're all prone to fail. The daughter boards on your broken board are the equivalent of the custom ICs on your working board. God knows why they switched to daughter boards but this could be down to short supply or was cheaper at the time rather than making another run of chips. Both boards...

Hyper Sports graphics error (no test menu?)

Technically you can use it to spit out a checksum for any 2764 from any game. Lots of games use them. It's more convenient to just use my TopMax though since I no longer have a T&F or Hyper Sports board laying around.
