The ones I've seen go all the way to the sides on both sides without a gap between the inner bezel and the inside wall of the cabinet.

I finally got around to patching up the my gen 1 control panel using the sheet metal and JB weld method. It wasn't too bad once I started getting the hang of it. BTW, anyone have a recommendation for where to buy a good CPO? I was thinking about the one from GoG...
