I have a SI that isn't working. I just got this game home and don't know it's history. The monitor powers up , but there is a lot of strange characters displayed. $# and other symbols. I can make out a few words and there seems to be some changes in the characters. Almost like it is running...
So I am playing my Tempest when all of a sudden the screen goes dark (completely black, no images). I was able to continue my game, but no picture, very challenging. Then the picture came back. It has never acted up like this. Is this an indication of a flyback going out?
The control stick is completely dead, no control of the plane. Vibration mechanism is working though. The rest of the game works. Is this a common problem with the Afterburner games, any ideas on a fix? Where and how to start?
Where is the best place to buy replacement relays for both pin and EM games alike? How do I identify what I have and match it to a new one? I was trying to buy from Mouser, but was not sure how to cross what I have.
I kinda remember a video game by Sterns that was similiar to SI, but had a huge ship that would dump out aliens that would then fill slots. That is all I can remember. Does this game sound familiar to anybody? I realize that my description isn't very good, but I thought maybe someone would remember.
Is it bad to power-up a game without the CP connected? Game in ? is a Nitendo Players Choice 10. I just want to test the monitor. I already have the CP out and torn apart.
Thanks again Modessitt. Your info saved the day. I also learned that tight connections are really important. I thought I had a connector on tight, but it wasn't tight. I am glad I checked the connections again. Before I rechecked the connections the video was acting strange, all sorts of tearing...
I have a Players Choice 10 that was involved in a bit of a fire. The cabinet got hot enough to melt the marquee, plexiglass front and the side art. I have had the cabinet airing out for almost 10 months. How should I go about cleaning and preping this cab for paint? What type of paint should I...
What is the best way to take screen shots? I have a problem with my Tempest and would like to post some pics of the screen so that someone may better understand what I am seeing. Any help is appreciated.
Is there much difference between Midway's Space Invaders 1978 and Taito's SI? If a person had a manual for say one of the Taito versions would the manual be useful for the original Midway 1978 version?
Anyone ever work on an Afterburner game. I have one with a dead stick(stick doesn't control plane movement at all, but machine gun button does respond)? Help, please.
Is there anyone out there that is familiar with the workings of this game or similiar game? I have most of it working, but still have a few problems. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.
Is anyone familiar with the Captain Kid game produced by Midway circa 1966? I am trying to restore one and I need some advice or direction. I have several problems. One problem is that the pirate will not dance as he should and the other problem is that the flags don't seem to work properly. Any...
This game works, but after the game has been on for a while, maybe 20-30 minutes lines begin to appear from a center point on the screen as though there is a problem with blanking or something. I don't know how else to describe this problem. Example: During play when you travel from one level to...
