    Asteroids Intermittently Working

Having a strange problem with Asteroids. Turned it on and got a blank screen, both start buttons were blinking rapidly. Went around back and opened the back panel, thought maybe the cut off button wasn't pressed or something. Opened and closed back panel and it started working again. Played...

    Asteroids Deluxe Backdrop

I picked up an Asteroids Deluxe recently (yay!) and the backdrop is not in the greatest shape, although still usable. Just to be clear, I'm talking about the 3D, glow under black light cardboard piece. Does anyone make repros of these?

    Pac Man Watch Contest

I've had this Pac-Man watch sitting around my desk for too long, so I thought maybe I could do something with it that could make the world just a tiny bit better. So how to do that? How about giving it away for freebees to my friends at KLOV in a contest? What you get: A super high...

    Name That Game

Spotted this game while watching Terminator the other day. Anyone know what that game is?

    Games Spotted in Movie

Was watching the movie "Let Me In" last night and was delighted to see some games in it. The movie takes place in New Mexico 1983 and this scene is supposed to be in a local pharmacy. Man, I'd love to have me some of those! Here's a pic.

    Kick Harness Help

I've got two questions about kick harnesses. 1: Do you use a molex connector somewhere in between the CP and the PCB to make removal easier? 2: I'm trying to find some colored wires for the harness. I went to Fry's and they looked at me like I was crazy when I asked about it ("we don't carry...

    Pin in a Movie

Watched the comedy "Date Night" last night and spotted this pin near the beginning of the movie. An oldie no doubt, looks like a baseball theme, can't quite make out the name. Looks like it's in good shape, the outside anyway, they never showed the playfield or any close ups.

Playing Robotron with One GIANT Joystick

LOL, somehow that title sounds dirty, but it was unintentional. I was cruising the inter webs and came across this video of someone playing Robotron with a ginormous joystick. It looks like they have it set up to run and shoot at the same time in order to get around having only one joystick...

    Can You ID These Games?

I came across yet another TV show with some games on it. The games were featured in a home game room on a real estate TV show named Open House. Let's see who can name all the games in the pics. It may be hard to tell from the pics, but the games are arranged in a "U" pattern. There's a two...

    Asteroids Makes a TV Appearance

Anyone here watch "Community"? Last week's episode had the cast going to a bar for a birthday celebration. Abed sees a game and correctly identifies it as Asteroids and then goes to play it! They showed him playing and the other guy in the pic comes up and starts talking about "The Last...

How to Open a Vectrex Cart?

Is there a trick to opening a Vectrex game cartridge? I see one screw which I removed, but the cart doesn't just slide apart, seems to be held together with tabs. I don't want to crack the casing or tabs, anyone here have experience doing this.

Plug n Play with real controls

Has anyone here ever tried opening one of those plug n play games and attaching real arcade buttons and a joystick to it? I have a couple of them I might try it on sometime, but thought I'd see if anyone here has had any success with this.

Multi Taito Qix Sound Fix and High Score Save

Was just talking with Exidy about the multi Taito boards and he was telling me how the sound on Qix is not very good (sucks actually) and the fact that there is no high score save either (on all the games). To me these two things would be enough that I would not want one of these boards...

    "Raising Hope" games

Anyone here watch "Raising Hope", the sitcom on Fox? There are two arcade games and two pinball machines in the grocery store on the show. Can't make out what they are, but I bet someone here knows. I'm thinking they might be Williams pins because I thought I saw yellow and red graphics on...

    Deformed Objects on Asteroids Deluxe

Was playing someone's AD recently and noticed the the asteroids and other objects would deform slightly in certain areas of the screen. The objects seemed to get slightly narrower. It was very subtle and probably went unnoticed by the owner, I didn't mention it because I didn't know what the...

    Fluorescent Marquee Not Working

I have a fluorescent bulb marquee that is not working. I tried replacing the bulb, but it still doesn't work. When I say it doesn't work, I mean there is no flicker, no glow, no hum, nothing. I see there is a starter on the holder, but before I change that for a new one, is there a way to...

    Missile Command 7th City

I noticed there's an option setting on Missile Command (and Super Missile Attack) that allows for a seventh city. If you set the option to four or five cities, the playfield looks the same, just with spaces where the cites would have been. So where does the seventh city appear?

    Williams Woes

Trying to get my Robotron PBC working, here's the skinny: The PCB was installed in a Jamma cab with a switcher/new PS and was working fine for a long time. Hooked it up recently (in same configuration) and I get nothing, blank screen and no numbers on the LED readout. Added a 4164 RAM kit and...

    Vector Monitor Tubes

I've been trying to read up on vector monitors recently and thought I read that a BW Vector monitor basically uses the same tube as a BW Raster monitor, so in theory if you find the correct tube you could use it in either. Assuming that I'm correct in that thinking (which I know I may not be...

    RAM Removal Tips

I was wondering what you guys use to remove RAM or other chips from a socket or holder? Can you just put a small screwdriver under the chip and pry it upward or is there some trick to this so that you don't bend the legs? Some of those can be pretty hard to remove, so what do you guys do?
