I don't believe it was updated. it used to load to the character and world select screen but would crash when the level would try to load. and no I did not replace the boot rom as I don't have a writer. do you know anyone who would sell one already programmed?

So I have a Gauntlet Legends that hasn't been working in a while. The hard drive crashed on the previous owner and he decided to sell it. I installed a compact flash card and when it starts I get an error message in red on the screen "no valid home blocks found" I cannot find much information...

I would upgrade the ram but I have already ordered the originals and its a friends game so they just want to get it working. Plus they wanted to keep it as cheap as possible

I assume it is because if you touch one with a live case and the other has a grounded case you will get zapped due to the ground. otherwise you cant get shocked if you're not grounded

Just checked, the voltages coming out of the power supply board are clean!

The ground terminal is more of a safety fall back in the event of a short, but it is not really needed. If you feel really ambitious, you can go buy a new end at your local hardware store and pop it on for the fun of it. It was probably removed because the previous owner would of had it plugged...

And I don't suspect it is a voltage issue because it keeps giving me the same RAM error until I replace the chip and then it goes down the line to the next religiously. I would assume a voltage issue would randomize the ram error every so often?

well I just re-capped the deflection bored just in case one shorted when the Bridge went ba, and I also replaced the 2 huge ceramic resistors with 18 gauge wire as per the service notice from way back when :P so dumb question but could it be something on the bored with the fly back inside the...

Got it! The Diodes were open on 3 of the coils to when the magnetic field collapsed on the coil after the first use it would immediately short out the transistor from the flash back.

I have stumped everyone eh? ;P

Alright, so I think the fuse was blowing because the power supply board wasn't fully bolted in. I replaced Q12, Q10, and Q8 and now whenever I activate the right turbo bumper, left slingshot or right slingshot, the transistor driving the solenoid immediately shorts out and the solenoid sticks...

Did you ever find the problem ? I still haven't figured it out.... I have replaced al 4 chassis transistors, capped the deflection board and tested all the mounted pots and transistors.
