  1. Defender Picture Off Center

I got the TV adjustment tool set and got lucky and had a tool that fit nicely in the width coil. I adjusted that and at least I have a whole picture. Still off center though. Also, when playing Bubbles, it became apparent that the picture was bigger at the top than the bottom. I guess the...
  2. Defender Picture Off Center

Yes, tried this prior to posting: "I have downloaded the manual for the K4603 and it showed a crude adjustment that could be made by moving a red wire in the back. This helped, but was not nearly enough. Some pictures are attached." The two pictures shown in the original post show this. It...
  3. Defender Picture Off Center

I adjusted the vertical size and it changed the size of the picture in the up and down position. I adjusted the H. Hold and all it did was make the picture roll. So, no progress. Am I missing something?
  4. Defender Picture Off Center

I'll try this tonight. Thank you.
  5. Defender Picture Off Center

No horizontal adjustment pot. Only the red wire that can be moved. I didn't get any feedback on the tool, so I just winged it. I hope it is right, otherwise I wasted some coin on it. Still looking for a viable solution to center the picture. Either center the picture, live with it or chuck...
  6. Defender Picture Off Center

I recently acquired a Defender. I'm still struggling to get the original board set working, but until and unless that happens, I have installed the JROK multi. I bench tested the JROK with a LCD and it seemed all was well. I installed the JROK into the Defender - which has, I believe a Wells...
  7. Jrok board with vga monitor

Just wanted to let you guys know that this 2 year old thread helped me get my new JROK board bench tested. So far, so good.

  9. super spin gottliet

Since it is affecting both players, check your M relay. There is a NO switch in that relay that controls both players on the "carryover" decade feature. I don't have a Super Spin schematic handy, but for a Solar City of the same vintage, this is true. That should do it for you. Good luck.
  10. Target Alpha unpacked

Is your "E" relay pulling in? I suspect not, since both sides don't work. If not, inspect/clean/adjust/measure: NC switch in P relay with SL+WH and red/with wires NC switch in motor 4B with the same colors. Make sure switch stack screws are tight, make sure motor 4B seems to be opening an...
  11. Off the Wall Gottlieb Crosstown Question

I have a Subway, and I'm in Ann Arbor FWIW. My Subway had a locked on coil as well in the doors. I forgot what the issue was and unfortunately, I'm out of town right now with no access to my schematics. If you want to scan and send, I can have a peek. You might need a bit more detail on the...
  12. What causes PF planking?

We had a real nice bedside table that got rain on it - and it planked. I'm just sayin'
  13. Defender Button Issues

OK, well I don't have time to order one, so I settled for my volt meter. I used Start Player One as my test. I checked on the switch side of the pull up resistor: 4.79 v with switch open .3v with switch closed Checked pin 15 on inverter 168 mv with switch open 4.79 v with switch closed. So...
  14. Defender Button Issues

I bought one today at the rat shack. That is also on the list. Thank you. Also, for anybody who is looking, I found the big capacitor in an axial configuration at both Great Plains and Big Daddy. I'm mostly a pinball guy and those places supply a lot of that kind of stuff.
  15. Defender Button Issues

Well.....the plot thickens. I measured across the switches and it was about 4.7 vdc. The power supply has 11.vac going into the bridge and 12.2 vdc coming out. Spec is 12.8. I'm suspecting the 18,000 mfd cap. Test point 1 is at 4.9 vdc Maybe I get that up to 5.1 vdc and the interface board...
  16. Defender Button Issues

http://www.vidpin.com/tech/defender_psarben.pdf Seems to show a decent troubleshooting procedure to figure out if the I/O is right. It sort of ties all the posts so far together. I don't have a logic probe, but the procedure only seems to require a VOM, so I'll see about that and report back...
  17. Defender Button Issues

http://www.robotron-2084.co.uk/manuals/williams_tech/Langley_Williams_Repair_Log.pdf has this: Do you think it sounds reasonable? " It is also an easy fix. If the ribbon is not damaged then gently pry open the covers at both end of the cable and gently squeeze the IDC contacts onto the wires...
  18. Defender Button Issues

The ribbon cable looks soldered on - Is this really the case? I tried to get it off and it didn't budge. I didn't want to screw it up. Should I just pin the thing out and see? Does it seem odd that ALL the switches are out? Would that point to one particular bad pin or something? Is...
  19. Defender Button Issues

Hi; I bought a Defender at a garage sale the other day. According to the lady, a "guy looked at it" and declared the picture tube bad. I brought it home and discovered fuse F3 was bad, which more or less fixed the picture issue. A slight adjustment to vertical hold and the picture was pretty...
  20. Defender Garage Sale Score

Sorry it wasn't clear. The ad stopped after Jet Ski. The rest was my comments. Do you have some links to the products you are talking about? My goal is to have keep the game such that I can swap out parts to get it back to original. This would preclude side art. I could do a bezel, CPO...
