  2. Help me fix my Sega G08 (Star Trek)

Yeah. Never resolved it. Life gets in the way sometimes and you have to take a break.
  3. Help me fix my Sega G08 (Star Trek)

I checked the X/Y board schematics carefuly and it seems the originating voltage is actually +21VDC. So should I unplug the H.V. P900 connector and test for +21VDC here before I assume it's an issue with the X/Y board? Not sure if it's safe to power up the monitor without the P900 H.V...
  4. Help me fix my Sega G08 (Star Trek)

I removed the Yoke connector and tested @ P900 and got -9.1VDC @ pin 3 and +7.8VDC @ pin 4. So, no significant change with that test. I suppose I could have an issue on the X/Y board in the power supply section, not providing the poper +9.1 volts?
  5. Help me fix my Sega G08 (Star Trek)

Ok, tomorrow I will unplug the yoke and see if I have the correct voltages.
  6. Help me fix my Sega G08 (Star Trek)

I have an analog meter and will test the circuit with that if you think it will help. --->OK---I tested the circuit with my analog meter an got 3.7VAC. Others experienced the exact same result as my test on that circuit and did have an image on screen. So that makes sense if they were using a...
  7. Help me fix my Sega G08 (Star Trek)

I had time to test the P900 connector actually using the correct information! These were taken with the video input signals disconnected. ALL OTHER CONNECTORS WERE PRESENT. I know some of these values are off the mark... Hopefully this can help figure out the problem: P900 connector: pin10=...
  8. Help me fix my Sega G08 (Star Trek)

Thanks for the reminder. I am fully aware of the factory G08 mods and revisions, Especially the 003 version. Luckily I have two identical G08s and both of them have the same mods and one is fully working. So, it’s very obvious that those mods were all factory done to improve reliability. I...
  9. Help me fix my Sega G08 (Star Trek)

That still leaves some confusion but gets me on the right track. I figured out the pins for X and Y. Hopefully I can test these now. Thanks!
  10. Help me fix my Sega G08 (Star Trek)

Thanks for those tips. I am beginning to realize very quickly why people just hate these things. I double checked and there IS WHINING NOISE coming form the cage area when no video input is connected... So, I was like "I will take some readings from the manual to confirm voltages @ P900 near...
  11. Help me fix my Sega G08 (Star Trek)

When I said input protection board, I was speaking of the clamp board. Bypassing it got the same result. I tested THAT board in my Tac Scan and the clamp board is good. I checked the paddle boards for cold solder and all components are secure and good. I tested all the components in circuit...
  12. Help me fix my Sega G08 (Star Trek)

I've only used that 6100 adapter in a pinch for testing purposes. After you've owned and repaired so many games there are certain homemade tools that you just can't do without! I've used it quite a few times to test Sega games when all I had on hand was a 6100. I've not worried about the spot...
  13. Help me fix my Sega G08 (Star Trek)

The game had similar issues plus it also had sporadic vertical collapse. It was hard to tell what all it was doing but the picture is somewhat stable now with the described issues and pics above. (I re-flowed solder on quite a few sketchy connectors.) This simple mod allows you to use a 6100...
  14. Help me fix my Sega G08 (Star Trek)

I'm not trying to pay someone to repair it. Plus, I have no idea if the monitor boards are causing this problem. I was hoping someone has seen similar and could help save some time. I am well aware of the risks of swapping vector boards. I've repaired over 100 Atari color vector monitors...
  15. Help me fix my Sega G08 (Star Trek)

Background. I own a Sega Star Trek and a Sega Tac-Scan. They both have Electrohome G08(ver.003) monitors. I rebuilt the Tac-Scan monitor and that monitor and game are both working great. I rebuilt the Star Trek G08 (cap kit and power transistors) and when I put it back in the game, it was...

  18. FS Game: Sega Star Trek conv-a-cab $900 OH - p/u only

I have a Star Trek that boots and has 1/2 screen collapse. I have the transistors to fix it and can either include them with the game, or fix it. I have too many projects and simply ran out of time. I do not ship games. Send me a PM if you are interested.
  19. Price Check Star Trek covert-a-cab

I have a decent one with an original Sega G08 monitor in it that has been rebuilt and is working properly. It's in the common simulated wood grain Sega style cabinet with no side art. What's it worth?
