    Rough Deluxe Space Invaders restoration

Shortly before Halloween feels like a good time to resurrect this thread from the dead. I made the cabinet somewhat presentable and found that the game wouldn’t boot. Rebuilt the power supply, no luck. Put in a switcher, and got rug patterns but no boot. Got busy, had more children, and the...

    Rough Deluxe Space Invaders restoration

Update time! I worked on the electronics enough to know that the monitor seems to be okay and this should be worth the trouble. Now, it's time for cabinet work to make it nice enough to move inside out of the garage. I didn't photograph the gory details, but the entire bottom was rotten, and...

    Rough Deluxe Space Invaders restoration

Great thread, thanks! Surprised I didn't find that when I searched previously. Very relevant to where I'm at.

    Rough Deluxe Space Invaders restoration

The front on this one is plywood, and it’s the most solid part of the cab. The top is particle board and will unfortunately have to be rebuilt. I see a lot of time with the table saw in my future. Current status: pulled the damp, rusty transformer out of the bottom, assuming it would be quite...

    Rough Deluxe Space Invaders restoration

Hello all, I've been out of the video arcade world for a while, though I have a couple long-term pinball projects. However, my dad texted me pictures of this found on the curb waiting for trash pickup, and I stole over as fast as I could to load it up. It is very complete, lacking only the back...

Williams Lucky Inning - repair project, questions

Hello all, New here from the pinball side of things, though I used to have a handful of classic video arcades. I just inherited two ancient EM machines from my grandmother's basement; a Willams Lucky Inning and a Chicago Coin Kilroy. These have been dormant for a LOOONG time, possibly late...

FS Parts: Sky Kid PCB (Namco)

For sale is a complete Sky Kid board with ROMs. I believe this is Namco Pac-Land hardware. Pulled in working condition; I'm planning to convert the cab it was in back to a Williams Stargate. Good condition; I had to replace the audio amp chip to get it fully functional. It's been used very...

FS Parts: Pair of Monroe Joysticks

For sale is a pair of Monroe joysticks. Both were pulled in working condition from a Sky Kid conversion that I'm possibly restoring back to a Stargate. One had a mounting point ground off to allow for close button placement. $175 OBO, includes shipping in the 48 states.

wish a had a box full of these laying around !

Whoa, I had a Music Machine cassette tape made by the same people as this game when I was a kid. Had no idea they made a 2600 game, and also had no idea that there's a 5000 dollar Atari game. *searches frantically for my cassette and lists on eBay* That is completely insane.

Sanyo 20EZ issues.. won't turn on

After investigation, it appears that the 300mA fuse blows every time it is turned on. So, what's the next thing I can check? I double checked my work on the cap kit, but I don't think there's any issue there since it blew the fuse before I did the cap kit as well.

That's awesome... I'd love to have one of those! Sounds like a good deal all around.

Sanyo 20EZ issues.. won't turn on

Alright, here's the story. I got a Popeye that was sold to me as working but with a totally dead monitor. I got it home, powered it up, and lo and behold it powered up and worked fine (picture was not great but not horrible). After running for a while and being turned off and on a couple...

    Which RAM chips for Q-Bert?

Awesome, thanks.. I've got the chips on order now. Also, I got the new amp chip in for my Sky Kid today and it now has perfect audio. Thanks for the help on that one!

    Which RAM chips for Q-Bert?

I think I've narrowed down the issues with my Q-Bert to the RAM on the PCB at E7 and E10... I tried reseating and cleaning the chips but the pins were so corroded several fell off. The manual says they're 4801 1K x 8 chips; does anyone know what part numbers are equivalent to those, or what...

No sound from Sky Kid board

Well, after close inspection after getting the board out, I actually found a hole that looks chipped out of the middle of the amp chip, so I'm guessing that it's toasted. The game has a recent switcher power supply installed so I'm confident that all's good power wise. Thanks again!

No sound from Sky Kid board

Wow James, thanks for the quick and excellent advise! Haha, I'd love to convert this back to a Stargate, and I'll probably start collecting parts toward that goal but right now I'm going to avoid investing much money in it. Sky Kid is actually very entertaining I must say. I did as you said...

No sound from Sky Kid board

I just picked up a Sky Kid in a converted Stargate cabinet (for $30, no less). The game powers up and plays great but the sound is completely dead. So far, I've checked the wiring and speaker, then I reseated all the chips on the PCB... still no audio whatsoever. Any other things I should...
