Space invaders deluxe Midway video issues

I had to order a few parts for other machines, so I added a cap kit for the boards to see if that will clear things up. Thanks for all the help, and I will let you know how it goes...

Space invaders deluxe Midway video issues

I do have a scope Lurch, I'm just not very skilled at using it. What would I look for when scoping pin 13? Just check if it's flat-lining or wavy? HudsonArcade, Would you mind clarifying the DC blocking cap on video out being leaky please? Am I just looking at doing a cap kit on the monitor...

    Atari Tetris won't save settings

Turns out the chip that is in my board is different than the original X2084AP-45. I have a Mitsubishi M58725P, which I'm assuming someone before me threw in there. I don't know if it's compatible, but it isn't saving, so I'll buy the X2084 and see if that fixes it... Here's hoping!

    Atari Tetris won't save settings

Thanks Sam, yes that's what I just found out as well. If it's not saving, does that mean this chip is toast? I'm going to try re seating the chip to see if that helps. I wonder if I could find a replacement if it is bad?

Space invaders deluxe Midway video issues

I adjusted the contrast control, and did manage to get a little better picture, but still garbled numbers and text, and also not displaying characters properly. I don't know a lot about testing chips, but I put my logic probe on LS166 at C4 and there was pulsing on all the pins, either low or...

Space invaders deluxe Midway video issues

Thanks for the input! I will try the contrast control since it's an easy thing to try first. I don't have a rom burner so I'd have to buy a test rom from someone, but I could try swapping out the LS 166 at C4.

Space invaders deluxe Midway video issues

I'm trying to help a friend with a space invaders deluxe upright arcade and I'm hoping someone can shed some light on the problems it's having. I'm attaching a video of the issues as well as photos of the boards. The video is in attract mode, and don't mind the background noise as there was...

Atari Race Drivin RAM error, any input greatly appreciated.

Thanks Tendril. I think this board will be sent off to someone who can fix it, it's above my pay grade now. I'll post back here again if we find out any answers and get it running, just to share the experience with others who might have the same sort of issue. Cheers!

Atari Race Drivin RAM error, any input greatly appreciated.

No luck. I installed the new LS245N and after everything I've tried, I get the same RAM error on the screen. I tried swapping the chips at 200E and 210E, tried swapping in a different 68681 at 200A, no joy, same error. Is there anything else anyone can think of to try? Getting low on hope...

Atari Race Drivin RAM error, any input greatly appreciated.

I checked all the lines on the RAM and they are pulsing etc the same as the RAM at 210 so they seem to be running right. I took out the 200E chips that were socketed, and it didn't change anything. I ordered a new LS245 so we'll see if that does the trick, and I'll let you know. Thanks again!

Atari Race Drivin RAM error, any input greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help tendril! I will try your suggestions this weekend. I haven't had a chance to probe the lines yet but will do as you suggested. We did find the chips cheaper than that, it's just the stupid shipping that always costs more than the parts.

Atari Race Drivin RAM error, any input greatly appreciated.

I will dig out my logic probe and a datasheet for the MS6264L-10PC and see what's happening with them. I don't know what that will tell me exactly, other than if they're active at all. From there I am not sure where to look but I'm assuming upstream somewhere, I just need to figure out what's...

Ordering new RAM today, here's hoping it works. Also I didn't mention, the 5v line is good across all boards.

Atari Race Drivin RAM error, any input greatly appreciated.

Looking for replacement RAM in case we decide to try it out. Has anyone had success with FM1608 NVRAM? Could mean you don't need timekeeper ram? Just curious. Still digging to find out what if anything else is wrong with this board.

Atari Race Drivin RAM error, any input greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to help a friend fix an Atari Race Drivin Compact machine, and it's been a battle. A quick rundown of where I'm at: I have a GO7CBO hooked up on top temporarily because the original monitor tube was broken. He got a new monitor from the guy but it's not working either. My friend...

Hydro Thunder Preservation - How to run on a "modern" PC

This is great! Keep up the good work, and hopefully we will be able to keep our machines going for a very long time! I'll go over your notes in more depth as time permits, but had a quick look through it. Thanks so much for doing this, you're a Hydro hero! :)
