  1. Sinistar Is So Sweet!!!

Yes. Yes it does. Sinistar was the first game I ever owned. Hard as nails but utterly unique. I now have mine setup with Twin Galaxies settings as it actually makes the game a little more forgiving!
  2. Multi-Williams Options?

This thread has all the info... Multi-Williams thread on here Also see... JROK's Multi-Williams page Been running it in my Defender for a couple of weeks and it's a magnificent piece of kit. Plays all the games perfectly. Even Robotron. If you can get one I think it'll be the best option.
  3. Millipede's got big balls...

I'm with you there. Similarly, when it comes to the gameplay, I prefer Stargate to Defender, but Defender is the classic cab shape and artwork. It's the bombing runs by the swarms of enemies that make Millipede fun. When you get in sync with the dragonfly patterns it's so satisfying to take...
  4. Williams Coin Door stickers?

My Defender has a proper Williams brushed metal coin door, complete with logos and a 'W' blanking plate over the central slot. Is it only the later games that have generic black coin doors?
  5. Dedicated list of classics

It varies massively from person to person. For example, Ms Pac-Man means nothing to me - it wasn't particularly common or popular in the UK, unlike the US where it appears to be the most common game around. I would say that most everything produced by the big manufacturers (Atari, Midway...
  6. KLOV High Score Board Post

Of course! Actually been a long time since I played a Robotron on anything less than Difficulty 5. Probably because I have the earlier yellow roms in my cab, where 5 is the default. JROK's board has the blue roms (without the shot in the corner bug) which defaults to 3. Looking forward to a...
  7. KLOV High Score Board Post

Nice score. Sounds like a gauntlet being thrown down. Should have my Robotron controls built this weekend.... then I can take up the challenge.
  8. Williams all-in-one multigame

Only been able to properly play Defender and Stargate so far (weekend project - build second control panel for the rest of the games) and they feel absolutely right. The big test will be Robotron. I know that game well enough that even the best MAME emulation of it still feels wrong to me...
  9. 720 > Spy Hunter Pinball?

Is 720 that desirable? Not a game I ever liked much. Personally, I would sell the Spy Hunter pinball (pretty rare I believe) and get a better pinball for the money.
  10. New MultiWilliams CPO Design - Feedback

I wouldn't worry too much about that. Hyperspace is only pressed as a last resort panic measure and not in combination with any other buttons. The distance between Hyperspace and the rest of the buttons on the right isn't that critical (unless folks are playing Defender in ways I've never...
  11. New MultiWilliams CPO Design - Feedback

Right hand every time. I never seem to let go of the joystick with my left. And yes! I think it should be in the center.
  12. What Would You Put In A Museum?

We had a similar exhibit on display at the Barbican in the UK. Most people didn't know what to make of Computer Space. It just doesn't seem to connect with people in the way that Pong does, so I would keep Pong as the earliest game. I guess you want a nice mix of innovation and stuff that a...
  13. Do you save older quarters for your games?

A 10 pence coin was our equivalent of your quarter. Almost all games were set to cost 10p for a credit. We'd hand over a £1 note (dollar bill equivalent) and ask for "ten tens please". They changed the size and weight of 10 pence coins in the UK in the early '90s. Naturally, all my coin...
  14. New MultiWilliams CPO Design - Feedback

The positioning of reverse on Defender is damn near perfect. Move it much further away and it will be an uncomfortable stretch if you play for more than a few minutes. If I were building that panel I would be trying to get the reverse button as close to the joystick as the stick's footprint...
  15. Robotron trade for Nice Stargate & OK cond Joust

Much as I love Stargate (it was one of the few games I could always stay at the top of the high score table on in my local arcade as a kid) as a home game it has had nowhere near the amount of play that Robotron has. If you're not that into Stargate, then I would make the trade. A Joust in...
  16. Joust 2 - Why Does It Suck?

Only played it I think twice at the time. Heck, I only ever saw one in the UK anyway. As others have noted, it feels more cramped than it should be and you can't really play it like Joust. I remember it being frustratingly difficult for that reason. Shame as there's a pretty good game in...
  17. Zektor's Vector Generator

Think you'll need to use the PIII 600. I tried a PII to begin with but it wasn't fast enough for most of the games. Best of luck getting it going.
  18. Williams all-in-one multigame

I agree. The script looks classier. Definitely the best of the panel designs we've seen. One thing that puzzles/bothers me... the upside-down Williams 'W' logo always looks strange to my eyes. I can see that it is supposed to be 'M' for Multigame but I think it cheapens the look of the CPO...
  19. Opinions on Stargate for sale locally...

Come to think of it, my old Stargate cost me £600 about 15 years ago. Hate to think how much that would translate to now. Seemed like good value at the time, but then again, at that time I had nothing to compare it to.
