This is why I do all my work open source. When I get bored it allows someone else to pick it up and keep going with it. I actually stopped some work in this area in light of these announcements. maybe I should pick it up again..

The 412 board MAME binary doesn't recognize that rom. I tried this a while ago with no success. You might be able to assume the identity of another DK clone it supports by renaming files inside the zip and the zipfile. MAME will complain about CRC mismatches but it should load up the game.

Boot loader needs to match the hardware and not the SD image.

I lack a duckhunt PPU in my collection so I'll be testing with other PPUs. Additionally, I have a complete set of "working in MAME" ROMs split up and ready for burning. PM me and I can provide a link.

I got down to running through all the NES ROMs in my collection. I posted the results of my testing here. I came up with 102 different ROMs which work in MAME.

I haven't. Everyone was asking for attract mode mods and then I got sucked in to this work.

This is pretty much exactly the path I'm looking at. The mapper details I figured out too. I found that NES games with vertical mirroring seem to work more often due to the mirroring and programming issues. I went with this because it reduced the number of games i needed to test to <200.
