Why Not. Another Star Trek g08 g80 repair thread

What about G1? Yes I think it was R917, I couldn't get rid of the spot in the middle of the screen or turn the brightness down before that. I have a suspicion something else is wrong, but it's working ok at the moment. The CRT is from an old Tatung monitor.

Why Not. Another Star Trek g08 g80 repair thread

I had a similar issue with a G08 I've just built. As a temp fix until I get a new HV probe, I turned down the HV voltage. That seems to have given my some range in the brightness for now. It would be good if you could take some voltage measurements on the neck pins with the game in test...

    Spiders (Sigma) - Booting issues

I know this is an Old thread, I just happened to be repairing a couple of Spiders PCB's today. The screen shown in the first photo is when the game hangs on boot up because of bad RAM. I managed to get mine to boot by placing a known good 4116 on top of each of the 24 RAM IC's 1 at a time...

What fixed your game today / general repair log

Kee Tank, monitor image shaking with bars scrolling. Turned out to be the step down transformer that the previous owner had fitted was 100v not 120v, that was causing the voltage out of the rectifier to be 77vdc, the regulator after this needs to be at 73VDC and there wasn't enough head...

    Star Wars Cockpit Power Issues

I wasn't talking about the crimp connector on the end of the cable, I was talking about the tab on the fuse block itself. That tab and the section that holds the fuse are often 2 parts, where they are joined together with a rivet causes problems. Just wiggling the tab side to side causes the 5v...

    XM501-10A chassis vertical issues

Like Wugly mentions, find some other source like and old VCR and wire the composite video (yellow wire) directly to the monitor. Post a photo so we can see what's going on. Do all the control respond normally? vertical hold etc. Have you checked B+ is correct? Should be 73 VDC, adjust R74 to...

    Star Wars Cockpit Power Issues

I've seen lots of power issues with those fuse blocks, the tab is crimped to the holder section and over time becomes oxidized. You can wiggle the spade side to side to clean it sometimes, really it needs replacing if it has got hot.

Help me fix my Hitachi MCL-461F black and white monitor

Like the cold section I mentioned :) which actually must be ok, as the picture is the correct size and shape. I wasn't saying it was the correct tool, I was just interested to see what it looked like.

Help me fix my Hitachi MCL-461F black and white monitor

You are looking for a VERY fine crack. Using an ohm meter is the only way to find them. It's literally so fine that unless you know where to look, you can't find them. It's like finer than RCH fine. Maybe 1/10 RCH. OK I'll take a look. Quote

Help me fix my Hitachi MCL-461F black and white monitor

Thought I'd have a look at it with my FLIR, Nothing appeared overly warm but there is a cold section....vertical size and linearity section. Everything in that section has voltage on it though, and when I make the picture appear on the screen its full size and in shape. https://ibb.co/7YfTKnD...

18v on one end, 20.5v on the other, it goes up or down a few volts depending on which way I turn the pot.

Help me fix my Hitachi MCL-461F black and white monitor

How's it going? It's going :) What was the B+ measuring and where was it test at? Just checking make sure that isn't low. I'm guessing it's 26v, There isn't anywhere marked as B+ . I don't think any monitor shop works on these chassis so its all you.. So need to keep testing and good notes...
