    New Members - UGH

OK, I'll share a story that happened a few months back. Guy first asks me about some drive images for a system. I spend a couple hours finding them (had to search a few external HD's to figure out where I stored them), then have to copy them to a memory card to mail to him (he didn't have any...

Weird Nintendo VS Dualsystem upright board

I’m not familiar with that particular daughtercard, but they usually run code from the PRG1/2 sockets on the card. Seems odd that it would not block access to the ROM bank on the main board… but you have it working, so it must be so. The daughtercard might be interfering with the shared CMOS...

Weird Nintendo VS Dualsystem upright board

Incorrect. With that daughtercard installed, it will not use the EPROMs on the main board.

Funny message after Galaga high score entry.

I believe Joe liked to joke that Mark lived in his mom's basement (and is known for using the initials "ASS"), so it would not surprise me that he asked for this dig to be added to the kit.

    Wanted: Omega Race Cabaret Marquee

Yeah, it sounds easy in theory. The hard part is evenly applying heat along the whole edge. It has to get quite hot! Practice on some scraps first.

    Wanted: Omega Race Cabaret Marquee

I made one once for a Ms Pac cabaret (with custom graphics for a Namco Classics Collection board). It was really hard! Getting it evenly heated up with a heat gun without warping was tough. Came out OK though. I did heat up one end a bit too much, resulting in a little warping and a few...

    Arkanoid spinner disassembly... how...?

Again, there's no reason to remove the knob from the shaft (unless the shaft or knob are damaged and need to be replaced).

Not sure when it went in, but that chip is old! I have a fresh new NVRAM you can pop in there.

Hypersports very 'square' rather than 4:3

I worked on a T&F cocktail (repaired the K4900) for a friend a little while back. You should be able to adjust the monitor to fill the entire screen. If not, there's something wrong with your monitor.

Track & Field PCB troubleshooting help needed

Doing an A/B comparison between good and bad boards is not really helpful at this point. If you suspect an address decoder chip is faulty, you need to look at its inputs/enable and see if the outputs are behaving accordingly. Maybe this will help you...

Track & Field PCB troubleshooting help needed

It's not running code.... Isn't the CPU watchdogging? You're going to see all kinds of crazy shit until you sort that out. Start with the CPU and it's access to ROM/RAM.

Has anyone ordered a Inquisitor products recently from LockWhenLit?

If anyone has sent boards to Rob for repair, there is a guy (J.J.) who is trying to sort that all out: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/rob-anthony-lockwhenlit-pinball-classics-customer-boards

Track & Field PCB repair - how to identify customs?

Top: 502 or 504 Middle: 503 Bottom: 082 or 083 To figure out the ambiguous ones, probably easiest to just try them in another Konami board. You'll get obvious graphics issues when you mix up 082 and 083, but the chips survive the screw up (in my experience). Don't think I've ever tried the...

Track & Field/ Hyper Sports- Garbage on Screen issues

Cool. I’ve never come across that version. It has the custom logic integrated, and uses a regular 6809 instead of the Konami-1 CPU (which is why it runs different code ROMs).

Track & Field/ Hyper Sports- Garbage on Screen issues

I believe they all either have the custom chips or daughtercards that replicate the custom functionality. Some Konami bootlegs have the custom logic included in the main PCB layout (so there are no daughtercards). I've never owned a T&F bootleg like that, but they likely exist.
