PP2 CPU board (Atari) boot issue

Yes, it’s z80 then B then A. What you can do is replace your video pcb with a PP1 video pcb, which can sometimes get a ram or rom error to appear on the blue screen. Sometime the PP2 sets have an error but it doesn’t display with all the other junk on the screen.

Irem Red Alert Help - Need Pics of Bottom Board

Thanks so much!!! I couldn’t find any other pics online of the bottom. Looks like mine are out of order. I swapped them to the order shown in your picture, but no boot yet. Reset is active and I have clock, but IRQ is stuck low and no activity on the 6502 address lines. Without a reference...

Irem Red Alert Help - Need Pics of Bottom Board

Anyone have a Red Alert PCB that could take a picture of the top side of the main bottom PCB? Only 1 out of 7 2532 roms is verifying, and I just want to make sure the placement/order of the roms is correct. My roms from 3K down to 3C go as follows: RAG B RAG 7 RAG A RAG 6 RAG 8 RAG 5 RAG 9 Thanks!

Congo Bongo died, pcb brings 5v down

I’ve had a number of Sega original switching power supplies go bad just as you describe. Replacing with another will probably fix your game. There is usually a switching power supply for the +5v, and another board for the +12v. You can rewire to make it all come from a new PS, or just use the...

    Bagman - shorted

I suspect that the big caps and the bottle cap and presence of diodes are used to convert AC current to DC on the board, similar to Pac Man or Galaxian boards. It looks like there are a couple of diodes missing that would be responsible for the voltage rectification. So, either those diodes have...

Ghostbusters Repair Log , PCB Info and Gondomania Interchangeability

My original Gondomania video PCB is a later version, DE-0259-3. It has all the JP jumpers, and does not need the 2 additional jumpers. JP5 was not bridged anywhere (open), and had JP1 open and JP2 closed, and JP3 closed. I ended up using this video PCB to fix the Ghostbusters, and got it...

Ghostbusters Repair Log , PCB Info and Gondomania Interchangeability

The newly arrived Gondomania video pcb appears to be an earlier revision, DE-0259-0, and was not compatible with Ghostbusters CPU pcb. It does not have jumper JP5 near the crystal at all. JP1 is open and JP2 is bridged, the reverse of Ghostbusters. Same JP3/JP4 setting as Ghostbusters. The...

Ghostbusters Repair Log , PCB Info and Gondomania Interchangeability

The Ghostbusters video PCB I was working on is labeled DE-0259-1. It has a jumper between two vias above the Deco VSC30 chip at 11 B: It has a jumper near the crystal, JP5, with pads 2 and 1 bridged: It has jumper JP1 bridged and JP2 open: And JP3 bridged and JP4 open: It also has a...

Ghostbusters Repair Log , PCB Info and Gondomania Interchangeability

The CPU board I worked on was DE-0273-1. It has a few modifications from the factory on it. A cut trace between D and E and row 12: Bodge wires from a 74LS32 at E7 to various points (mine had the jumpers on the bottom of the pcb, but there are pictures online of sets where the jumpers are...

Ghostbusters Repair Log , PCB Info and Gondomania Interchangeability

Ok, not really a full repair log, but… I’ve been working on a Data East The Real Ghostbusters pcb for a client who has been very patient. The symptoms were a screwed up title screen, and lots of messed up sprites (background tiles were OK). I narrowed the problem down to a surface mount chip...

Pole Position 2 boots to garbage

Do you have a logic probe? You need to see first if the z80 is getting a reset signal on pin 26.

Tank Battalion PCB - it lost the battle

Kind of looks like mine but with different pinout and a second edge connector. See this post for a picture with numbered roms: https://forums.arcade-museum.com/threads/tank-battalion-bootleg-18-36-pin-pinout.505606/ I think they are similar enough that the rom locations are the same. Your...

What's the best way to remove side art?

Heat gun and scraper. It will leave adhesive residue behind. Use Rapid Remover on the adhesive - 30 seconds set time and scrape and the adhesive is gone. Do another application of Rapid Remover if needed. Works really well. If you can hand peel off large chunks it can be more time efficient than...

Why don’t you continue your troubleshooting in your original thread, instead of starting a new one? Did you try any of the other steps I mentioned there? https://forums.arcade-museum.com/threads/gyruss-no-sound.547822/post-4927219

Irem GDI Red Alert rom size?

Thanks. The schematic from the manual looks a little different: I also seem to be missing some of the transistors in the left side of the above photo. I'll check the rom strapping and see about populating those transistors.

Irem GDI Red Alert rom size?

Working on a Red Alert board set that won’t boot or go into test mode, just garbage on screen. I have clock and reset, but the address lines on the 6502 are totally dead, and IRQ is sitting low. The 4116 ram have proper voltage. I tried reading the program roms but none seem to be verifying...

Midway plastic u-channel for glass edge?

Measure the thickness of the glass and marquee. Most tend to be 3/16". Then get the backglass trim/channel that matches the correct thickness. You can also find this at marcospecialties.com. Edit - I think you have a translight marquee and clear plexi? If so, and the plexi is 3/16", the added...
