  1. Solved: Tron coin lights only and no sound/spinner

A final post mortem on this problem. Well the sound and spinner went out later. After I replaced all the capacitors minus the ones on the monitor, replaced the oil capacitor, added new solder to all the connectors on the sound/io board, opto board, grounded everything, had CDJump repair the...
  2. Tron MCR loud humming sound

Quick final update. The aftermarket power supply went back to it's previous shenanigans and the sound and spinner went out again. So, I bought a Suzohapp power supply and new MCR adapter board and now the sound and spinner control work every day for the last 4 days.
  3. Tron MCR loud humming sound

So.... I gave up trying to figure out what was causing the humming sound and went back to the switching power supply that also came with my game. Whatever I did to rehook it up fixed the missing sound and spinner. Now the game is back up!
  4. Tron MCR loud humming sound

Yep, I've replaced every cap in the game minus the ones in the monitor, which I believe the previous owner replaced.
  5. Tron MCR loud humming sound

Thanks for the suggestion, but my game keeps humming along when I pulled out the bulbs and turned it back on.
  6. Tron MCR loud humming sound

Here is another data point. I used a friend's Fluke multimeter that allows you to see the Hz of the electrical signal. I checked J2 on the Dual Amp Board and each speaker is 120 Hz.
  7. Tron MCR loud humming sound

Chaneman, JW4 was already cut. I also got in a replacement oil capacitor and changed out the original, but that didn't help fix the problem.
  8. Tron MCR loud humming sound

I hooked up the grounding strap to the control panel since I saw some other posts saying that is where it should be connected. Unfortunately it didn't stop the hum.
  9. Tron MCR loud humming sound

Another thought has come to mind regarding the grounding straps in my game. There is one that is next to what I think is the line filter and it goes to the top left corner of the coin door frame. There is another group strap that connects to the same spot on the coin door frame and isn't...
  10. Tron MCR loud humming sound

Reflowed the solder and added a little bit to all the connector pins on the power board and it didn't clear things up. I also did the same for the new caps I put in... No luck with that either...
  11. Tron MCR loud humming sound

I repinned the cable for J1 on the dual power amp board, however the hum is still there. I wonder if I need to relook at the soldering of the caps on the power supply board...
  12. Tech specs needed - Midway MCR volume pot m051-121-a001

Let me know if you can source a service switch. I think mine is kaput.
  13. Tron MCR loud humming sound

OdinM, I've repinned all the connectors on going to my power supply board, but will work on the dual amp board next and then work my way around the rest of the connectors. Mecha, since I don't have a scope, do you have a recommendation for me to buy?
  14. Tron MCR loud humming sound

    I don't have a scope unfortunately...
  15. Tron MCR loud humming sound

I changed both of them out since I had a pair in my cap kit, but it didn't fix the problem.
  16. Tron MCR loud humming sound

I finally got my Tron back together after getting my power supply board fixed thanks to CDJump and noticed an annoying problem. There is a loud hum coming from the speakers and I can't figure out what is causing it. Turning the volume pot doesn't change the noise level. I've seen a couple of...
  17. Removing corroded pins from molex connector

Thanks all for the feedback. I’ve ordered new Molex connectors and some more pins.
  18. Removing corroded pins from molex connector

A little background. I'm in the process of fixing my Tron game that had no sound and spinner control when using a replacement switching power supply. CD Jump repaired the original power supply board and noticed there was lots of corrosion on the pins on J4 and J5 and changed out the board side...
  19. Bally Power Supply resistor replacement

My ur Tron came to me with a replacement power supply and I'm at my wits end trying to find out why my sound and spinner recently stopped working. I'm trying to fix the original power supply board and noticed on the back side of the board under part R104 is some dark spots and the solder points...
