Weird flipper sticking problem on Doctor Who...help!?!

Or it could be something with the level set height for the flipper bat. Check with a feeler gauge what the working (non-sticking) one's height off the playfield is, and then check the "sticking" one's height. If there is a difference, fix that. Look for any burrs on the shaft in the bearing...

Weird flipper sticking problem on Doctor Who...help!?!

Did you check your coil sleeves and the end stop? Sometimes you get a chip in the coil sleeve. Or the end stop (that the plunger repeatedly smashes) gets peened over, and a "booger" can snag the slug. I'd suggest taking the coil apart and looking at all the pieces. It isn't clear what you...

Price Check: Bally Fireball 1972 EM

I'd charge around $1000 to shop that. The corrosion under the lock bar is very concerning. If you haven't already done it, pull each Jones Plug and clean the pins. From the rust on the lock bar, the Jones plugs are probably in bad shape and need to be cleaned so they will pass current. That...

What was the most dead pin that you saved?

A Bally Monte Carlo (1 light was working) and a Gottlieb Shangri-La (1 light working). I got the schematic, found where the power came in to the light, and then went to the next contact downstream, cleaned that, and then continued until everything worked. I also had to replace the posts over...

The challenges of owning a pin in Delaware.

Sorry man, I wish I could help you. It would be a bit of a drive from western Illinois.

Does this battery need to come off?

You won't. Just desolder each pin, and then carefully remove it. Well, you could try. Go to the positive and negative terminals and bridge them with a resistor. It will sap the charge, but it isn't high voltage (3 to 5 vdc) so it isn't a problem to desolder and remove.

Does this battery need to come off?

    It's potted. That's potting compound.

Pinball Machines- leveling and angling fun

Yep, if the game play isn't then set it to a higher angle. I'd suggest no more than 1 degree increments, more likely 1/2 degree. It will speed up faster than you would expect.

    The LED debacle.

I haven't taken the plunge yet (unless you consider that I used LEDs in place of the 40 watt refrigerator lamps in my Chicago Coin Super Score.) I went with 2700K lamps in that case. I like the way the old-style incandescent lamps look in that game, and my Xenon pinball machine. I have seen...

Question if I buy a new "translite"

If the old one comes off clean, you'll be fine. If it doesn't, you may have to go with a new plexi. If your existing plexi is glazed, scratched, fuzzy, you may want to go for a new one anyway.

    Preferred replacement pinballs?

I've been going with SilverJet. They work well, are highly polished, and I like them. I've never heard of Pinsound.

Pinball Machines- leveling and angling fun

I have two 3' levels that I use, and they work great. Locations vary. Having a good level you can use can make a huge difference in game play / trapped ball reduction.

    Lancaster Silverball. Not happy.

There you go thinking. I agree with you by the way. Collections should be enjoyed.

Is your coil an AE-26-1200? Or an AN? There is a difference.

    Twilight Zone bridge diverter problem

You have the solenoid in backwards. Reverse it and see if that solves the problem. By reverse - the electrical connections should look like the other guys photo, not yours.

Thanks. Good luck. Make sure you look at the reviews of that place before you send anything out.

    Twilight Zone bridge diverter problem

I'll second this. The traces on this thing are very fine, and very easy to damage or lift if you aren't careful.
