Solved: Black Hole pop bumpers, help find documentation for fix

Finally getting around to fixing my Black Hole. One of the last things that's been plaguing me is the pop bumpers. I have done the mods for both reliability and LED convenience. While playing, when 1 pop bumper is activated by the ball, another one fires as well. I know there was a fix for...

    NeoLoch Inquisitor binary files?

A few years ago, I had a thread that asked about the binaries for the NeoLoch Inquisitor (Old Inquisistor Thread). As was mentioned the Pic Mcu's they use have the security bit enabled. Has anyone attempted to get the person/company who made these release the files? Or, has anyone figured out...

Price Check: Bally Fireball 1972 EM

I'm looking for a price check on a Bally Fireball 1972 EM. Currently it is "broken"-ish. It powers on and there are 3 coils that need replacing. Besides that it seems to need just a lot of cleaning and adjusting. I was able to get most of it to work by adjusting/cleaning some of the relay...

Mr. Do screen curl, Not monitor

I'm working on a Mr. Do board and have it working, mostly. After changing 4 bad 74LS161 counters and 3 bad 74LS74 flip flops and 1 bad 74LS107 flip flop, I finally have a working board except the screen is curling on the left side. I'm positive it is not the screen. In the images you can see...

Looking for a wider 28-pin SOIC test adapter

I am trying to test some surface mount memory chips, such as a 6264 or the FM16w08. The test adapter I have (similar to the attached image) has the correct pin spacing, but isn't wide enough for the chip to fit in. Where can I find a wider version of this quick release adapter?

Joust 2 Schematics Created: Looking for 3rd party verification

I wanted to start a new thread on this subject so it wouldn't get lost in the shuffle of all the old information. My game had broke and since there was no schematics for Joust 2 and while waiting on parts, I just sat down and spent the last month manually creating them. I'm hoping someone has...

    Who knows David Haynes?

I've been trying to hunt down some Inferno schematics to try to create the non-existent Joust 2 schematics (KLOV thread). Scouring the interweb, I've come across very few leads. But, one I've just recently found involves a person named David Haynes. I've seen @jrok mention him on his Bombjack...

    Joust 2 Schematic PROM question

Joust 2, IC60 is a decoder prom The schematic shows 6349, BUT... shows pins 15 and 16 to be /CE pins. I've verified that both pins 15 and 16 are in fact grounded. The file shows that it is a 512 byte rom. Comparing the 6309 to the 6349, the latter has pin 16 as A5. As found in the...

    Simple Joust/Joust 2 question

Joust has 2 VL2001 chips on the rom board. Joust 2 has VL2001a chips on the CPU board. Are these interchangeable with each other? I've read the writeup by Sean Riddle and he claims there are slight variations. Also, since there doesn't seem to be any unique identifiers, are the...

    Free play addon tester/interest check

Years ago, I made a free play device for my Exidy Collen'x. Before people chime in and say it already has a free play, you are correct... with a catch (but, that's for another discussion). Now, I can't claim this is original, but it's what I made. I needed a couple more and since having 30...

Port from 1 microcontroller to another

This may not exactly be arcade related, but it is in the spirit. I have a game that uses a TI TMS1400 microcontroller. It's a 28 pin 4 bit microcontroller chip, manufactured by Texas Instruments, that is no longer made. To make matters worse, I believe, it used masked roms. People much...

I have a neighbor, whose friends father passed away. That friend now has a Space Invaders Deluxe in good shape, mostly working, via rumor. Supposedly the 2nd player start doesn't work all the time. By the 1 picture my neighbor had of the game stuffed in a corner, it looks in good shape. I...
