Thanksgiving trip -- Arkansas to NH

It looks like I'm going to be driving a box truck (sadly, non-game related) from Fayetteville, AR to NH around Thanksgiving. Likely route is via St. Louis, Indianapolis, Columbus, Cleveland, (I80/88/90 across PA/NY), Albany, then 9 across VT/NH. If anyone needs games moved near or along the...

    WG 27" Monitor ID

I normally only deal with 80s stuff, so I seldom see anything bigger than 19". Does anyone recognize this chassis? Label on the frame is marked "WG R2700-UOTS35K" 27" Tri-sync 35kHz, perhaps? The signal input is a 10 (?) pin Mini-fit Jr, and the remote board has a whole bunch of stuff on it.

    Exidy Side Track

I was playing around with some Exidy stuff for shits and giggles and decided to play with Side Track a bit since I'd never played it. The ROMs looked pretty packed, but there was a bunch a garbage at the end of the file that didn't seem to get accessed. After running 'strings' on the...

Mario Bros FP / High score save

Since it's similar enough to the DK3 mods from a couple days ago, Works in MAME -- should work on real hardware w/ good batteries or an NVRAM @ 6A. Set to 1C/3C for free play Hold P1+P2 start on reset to clear high scores. You'll need to patch and reburn ROMs 7c and 7e 0001 0000...

    MMAO - Parts: CY7C245A 2kx8 registered EPROMs

I just dug out several tubes of CY7C245s (UV erasable, not OTP) in ceramic narrow DIP 24 packages. I likely bought them to do bipolar prom replacements since they're super fast and easier to program, but never did anything with them

    Bagman "protection" PAL

I noticed this circuit a couple years ago, and it always kinda bugged me how this was written off as some sort of protection device: First of all, it's drawn a little weird -- most of the outputs are on the left, and most of the inputs are on the right. /RD4 going to pin 11 makes sense --...

    Debugging a board...

Sometimes it's hard to see what's going on during a RAM test, since most of the characters don't 'map' easily to the associated hex. Some games have character RAMs instead of character ROMs, so you can make what's displayed a little easier to decode -- so why not make a custom character set...

    Atari 034006 sync prom?

Before I go digging through piles of boxes to find a board and desolder a chip... Does anyone have a dump of the 034006 sync PROM used on Football, Soccer, and potentially others? MAME doesn't have a dump, and it looks to different from the 006400 PROM used on other B&Ws, as well as the 136001...

    Anteater

White looking at a for sale thread, I saw this complete mess and got curious: Turns out this shitshow is actually "documented" in the schematic, but they don't say what 4F is (though it's pretty clear what it does): As a stupid attempt at copy protection they're messing with the address...

    Cosmic Alien

I probably should have started with Cosmic Alien (#7910) -- I'm not sure how I missed it when the driver name is cosmic.cpp -- must have been thinking Cosmic Monsters. These schematics clear up some of the hacks and unlabelled nets from the other schematics: Like Space Panic, we have : Hey...

    Space Panic

So, I know what everyone's thinking... We've got support for 8003, 8013 (II), and 8022 now -- what about 8015? I totally forgot that was in the cosmic.c driver, but let's see what's different. First the easier stuff: Oh look, they changed the color priorty muxing again! VIDEO1 is still...

    Devil Zone

At first glance it looks like Devil Zone (Universal Board #8022) is *almost* identical to No Man's Land (#8003) and Magical Spot (#8013). It's got the same hideous #8013-V1 hack daughterboard from Magical Spot, and its own sound and aux gfx boads. The one change I do see is the priority in...

    No Man's Land

So something bizarre I noticed: No Man's Land (and related Universal games like Magical Spot) have inputs for all 8 directions of the joystick, which means you likely need to do funky stuff with a JAMMA adapter to map the standard 4 directions for the game to play properly. Most hardware is...

    Cheeky Mouse

Universal didn't exactly do a great job of documenting early hardware, and left of lot of net labels off of their schematics, so it's time to fix that. Starting with an easy one: From context we see SF3 / SF2 / SF1 get added to the vertical count at F3, K1 to perform scrolling on a portion of...

    Ultra Tank

I was just fooling around with ultra tank and was annoyed with how clunky the graphics are. Looking at the tilemap proms, a bunch of redundant tiles are solid blocks (0x20-0x29) even though the code writes different values to the screen ram: Just for shits and giggles I hex edited the proms to...

MMAO - Parts: (MA) Beckman Industrial Circuitmate 9020 -- 20Mhz Scope

20 MHz scope Has X/Y mode (with Z input on the back). Just dug this out and haven't fully retested it yet since I haven't dug out a signal source, but it looked good for the minimal testing I did. Pickup only -- MA or @ Allentown.

FS Parts: OT: "Beermeister" Kegerator (Cleveland)

Before I deal with FB marketplace, is anyone in the Cleveland area interested in a 1 tap kegerator? The good: It works great It gets very cold It just had a thorough cleaning of the lines and all hardware 1 keg ago The bad: It's an older unit that was made for stubby 1/4 barrel (pony) kegs...
