How to install lights, fixtures, boards, etc...

This is the best way I've found to install any boards, fixtures, or anything else with screw holes without using a tape measure, pens, sharpies, whatever... Put a piece of painters tape over the mounting hole locations on your board / marquee light (power strip in my example) Poke holes...

    KLOV: 2013

Today I was cleaning out some cabinets in my pole barn, and I found an old laptop. No idea what was on it, so I plugged it in and turned it on. Windows 7 came right up out of hibernation mode, wow. And Chrome was open with this page that must have been cached when I closed the lid on the...

Are there any replacement / repro boards available for the Wico / Happ P360 joysticks available? Has anyone repro'd this board? Or better yet, a complete reproduction retrofit kit for a Wico or Happ joystick? :) I have a couple OEM's, just would like to know if there are options out there...

MAME token found in game - 18 years later

I picked up an Arachnid Super 6 dart machine sometime in 2007. Been in my game room ever since. It was wired with a credit button, and that's the only way I've ever used it. So just today, and I can't imagine what possessed me to do it, but I reached out and pushed the coin reject button as I...

    7404 meltdown

Working on a Gottlieb Sys 1 soundboard (Totem) and I see this 7404 that is completely burned up. I usually find 74xx logic chips just dead or just an open or grounded input/output, not blown out like this. I'm checking the board for shorts, but have any of you repair ninjas see logic chips...

Joust boards with Multigame kit was dead, but now fixed!

I turned on my Williams Multigame (Clay's kit) a couple weeks ago, and it was dead. I put this game together from a completely empty cabinet in September of 2004. This game has never given me any trouble in the last 20+ years since, although I did have to recap the G07 about a year ago because...

    NEC RGB monitor

I picked up this 26" NEC monitor in the late 90's, I'm thinking 1998/99. I traded the guy a Tempest spinner for it. So at that time it seemed an even trade, probably around $40. It has a manufacturer's date of April 1988. I stashed it out in the barn and forgot about it for 25 years. Until...

Area 51 portable - 20 years later, still working...

I can't believe it... I thought this was left behind or lost long ago. I put this together about 25 yrs ago, but then lost track of it during house moves. Apparently my bride of 30+ yrs kept packing it up and moving it along with us. She's a good one.... So it's an Area 51 game I put into an...

    A fuse is a fuse....

I just got a few boards in today from a friend to fix, and the first one I take out of the box is a Bally solenoid driver board. Clearly the HV section is smoked, no problem, I've fixed these before. The F1 fuse may need a little attention, too. :)

SOLVED: Toei GM-140TV recapped - picture stretched out

I recapped the GM-140 in my space invaders, and now the picture is all messed up and I can't seem to adjust it. This is the best I can make it look. What did I mess up? I've gone back over the caps 3x to make sure I didn't mix some up. Any ideas?

Taito Space Invaders - cocktail monitor overlay

The Taito SI cocktail that I am working on with a 13" B&W monitor has a delaminated and deformed color overlay. Has anyone tried to flame polish or been able to renew/refurb these? I've been able to renew pinball ramps and such with a little flame polish, not sure if it had been tried on one...

Anybody have a Taito SI cocktail PS schematic? I checked arcarc, just not finding it. This is the PS board I'm working on.. That 10uf tant blew it guts out. I replaced with a 10uf 35v electrolytic, seems to be working OK.
