Yeah, I used one of those for years. I've gotten pretty spoiled with the hakko, especially for desoldering chips. It lets you kind of pull the leg away from the edge while sucking and kind of spin around and suck all the solder out, rather than just one shot of suction. I do a lot of...
Wow, those holes look clean! I would not have guessed looking at the picture of that thing that it would be the way to go, but I'll give it a try. Just ordered one. Thanks! I've been using a Hakko for a couple years and it's at least better than the "butt buster" which is what I call the...
Never mind. I used the magnifying glass and found one place where I had a bridge. Man, I hate these 7203 chassis. Too much stuff, too close together, too many caps, too small traces, too easy to lift the traces, give me a nice 4600 and lake these stupid 7203s away.

Guys,
I have a 7203 that was working but maybe little wavy, so I decided to cap it. I did so, and now the picture is not wavy but there is almost no contrast. Meaning I can turn up the screen control and or blk level, and the tube gets plenty bright, but there is almost no picture from the...
You are so correct about this. It's true in so many areas. I'm in the process of "restoring" about 300 video games for my next expansion. I used to just automatically rebuild every monitor and replace every flyback, replace all the power supplies etc with new ones. Not anymore. New parts...
Quick update for all of you who chimed in to help. Thanks so much for all the ideas - you are very appreciated.
It is now fixed. The left flipper that just started acting up was caused by a cabinet switch that was out of adjustment - had come slightly loose. Easy fix.
The right flipper that...
Thanks for all the tips. Some more info. When I say I replaced the entire flipper assembly, I mean I bought the marco specialties replacement flipper assembly - everything is included:
https://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/A-15205-R
I have noticed the marco's parts have been lower...
Guys,
I'm out of ideas for this Doctor Who. Never seen anything like this.
The right flipper sticks up sometimes. Seems like it is slightly held magnetically. Turning the game off doesn't immediately release it. But eventually it does.
I have replaced the entire flipper assembly -...
My buddy Jeff does service work in the area but isn't able to figure out how to log in to his KLOV account or post threads, so I'm doing it for him.
Here is a picture he took of a monitor he is trying to repair (vision pro) for a customer. He tried cap kitting it (mostly - he replaced all but...
Praise God! And many thanks again for the help! It's fixed!
I replaced all of the 4401s, 4403s, and TIP29s. When removing the TIP29s I noticed one had a broken leg so that is probably the cause.
Sounds great again! Thank you again for the help!
Thanks for all the guidance guys! I will try these things maybe today if I have time. I'll report back after trying.
BTW, I would test it with another amplifier, I just don't have an easy way to do that at the moment. I need to get a little amplifier and have it in the shop for testing...
Well, I just replaced all three LM741s on the PS/amplifier board. No change. Now I truly am baffled. I thought maybe the +12 might have a big ripple, but no, flat as a line. What else can this be? Tried another new speaker just to make sure - same. Help!!!!!
Thanks...I watched it and another one from the classic arcade repairs guy but neither had sprite issues.
Any other ideas? How about the HudsonArcade guy? Are you out there? You seem to know more than anyone about ...well.... everything? Where would you look?
Guys,
Another issue I need help with. Sorry for my ignorance.
NO sprites on my Burgertime PCB. Don't see any broken traces. All else working fine (after I replaced one of the RAMs).
In test mode, it seems to fail the "Mix Test". That is, it just displays the numbers 1 to 8 but nothing...
