I have recently come into possession of a 1931 gottlieb baffle ball machine which I'm very happy about! The machine came with 10 balls but I don't believe they are the original ones. Nine of the balls are smallish white glass marbles and another is a more conventional cat's eye marble.
The...
Not a bad selection there! I'm kind of open to a lot of things. I really just want to try and tinker with a redemption game as I've never really tried to before! Something with some mechanical element would be nice like Pop A Ball!
I've been wanting to tinker with a ticket redemption game of some kind for a while, but many machines are large and awkwardly shaped for a typical home arcade.
There are some games like Pop-A-Ball that are about the size and form factor of a conventional video arcade machine. A friend of mine...
ISSUE HAS BEEN FIXED!
TL: DR - Replacing the 4016B at M9 resolved my issue
Referenced this recovered Asteroids Repair log: https://web.archive.org/web/20201014122006/https://sites.google.com/site/asteroidsrepairlog/
So after looking through these documents I drew my attention to the 555 timer...
For anyone digging through this page for ship fire sound problems fixes like I am, here's the Wayback Machine link to this page. Thank God this was archived!

I do have some 555 timers already on hand so I think I may just go ahead and try replacing L9 since I have it. I'll also try to take a closer look at caps to see if anything is loose or off. And just for good measure I'm thinking of hooking up a different speaker JUST IN CASE it's something...
Do you have a link to this thread? Any further elaborations? There's four 555 timers on the board, so which is the one I should focus on? Presumably L9?
Ended up just going ahead and replacing it! The rest of the coil casing basically disintegrated up on removal lol
All is good now! But good to know it seems it could have been left alone with little issues of no adjustment is required! Thanks everyone!
Got an Electrohome g07 all recapped and tuned up. Reinstalled it in a Ms Pacman only to find out the plastic casing of the horizontal width coil seems too have crumbled and finally cracked, The top part of the plastic casing as well as the screw that you adjust have come completely off...
Thank you! Ill try to look at those as soon as I can (The machine isn't at my house at the moment).
Also out of curiosity, could it have anything to do with the 4016 IC at M9? I saw it mentioned in a couple other threads that also seemed to mention those same caps. Any thoughts?
Recently did a full recap of my asteroids cocktail cabinet for general maintenance purposes. The sound was slightly iffy before, but right now it recently developed a weird honking sound for when it fires. That I'm pretty sure wasn't there before.
I recapped everything from the monitor to the...
UPDATE! Taking a closer look at the machine, it turns out that there is in fact a direct connection from the flyback to the neck board. And under this wire is where I noticed the glow.
On my most recent attempt to turn on the machine. It did not appear to Glow, but I could hear a faint ticking...
