Pretty sure the T901 has survived. Primary winding checks out at 18ohm. Secondary is a bit high at 4ohm. But those readings are in circuit, and match readings taken from a working HV board.
Although T901 was hot to touch, on further investigation looks like the magic smoke was coming from R917...
I ended up pulling and testing every transistor and diode on the HV board. They all checked out fine.
Removed the HVT:
I get continuity from Pin 1 (lowest on the right) to pins 3, 6, 9, and 11 (with 11 being lowest on the left). Run the same test on a known working HVT gives me continuity on...
Thanks - I'll pick this up again over the weekend. Will pull and check Q906. If that checks out I'll see what happens with Q900 disconnected. I don't know much about this monitor, looking at it as a favour to a fellow collector. HV board looks like it's had a lot of work done to it previously -...
Cheers Dez, but yeah, using 6AMP.
I can see me checking every component here and still getting nowhere. None of this is making sense to me.
50% of the time one of the transitors at Q102 / Q103 gets taken out when the fuse blows.
Thanks Dez.
Replaced the cap, and removed the short. Powered up and F101 blows.
HV board is P316:
Swapped in a known working HV board and monitor runs fine.
So far on the faulty P316 HV board I've tested:
R901, R907, R913, R917 they all check out fine - although R901 crumbled still reads...
Quick update.
Q900 not shorted to cage. And tests fine.
But I have continuity across pins 1,2 and 3 at J900.
I also have continuity across the cap at C901. So advice above looks spot on. Shorted cap C901.
Will replace and see where that takes me. Optimistic though.
Thanks. Really helpful. Unplugged P900. F101 holds. Now have neck glow and chatter. Progress ! I'll pull the HV board and investigate. Will report back.
Thanks. Helpful suggestion. I checked for that just after posting last night when was going round in circles. But not reversed.
Have a 6100 here that blows F101 on deflection board. Deflection board is fine, runs ok in another 6100 that I have.
Have checked frame mounted transistors. They all check out as fine. Have checked that none of the frame mounted transistors aren't shorted to the frame. Again, all is ok.
Have...
