I don't have a hole at C36 right now......Maybe after I start soldering....lol!!!!

I'm totally into trying to get the hang of fixing these things.Just got a flyback/cap kit,C36,etc. Now the real fun begins.We'll see how it goes!!!Hopefully won't screw up or I will be buying a new or used board.Crossing my fingers!!!

Finally getting somewhere.Hot is bad.C36 is bad.I'm gonna go ahead and replace Flyback,HOT,Voltage regulator,and C36.....thanks to everyone for the help.

OK.......C38 reads 1622...C36 reads 158....looks like C36 is bad....

I checked them with my friends meter earlier.1 was really high and the other was really low. I'll check again....

thanks for that list.....I Just got back from using my friends meter.It's just a fancy multi meter.His meter did show some resistance on the resistors I thought were bad.As for C36,C38(now I know they're capacitors)I'm gonna need an ESR meter.Once I acquire that meter will I be able to test...

Duh......you see how much I know...I thought they were diodes.....I tested C36,C38...I realize I can't get a correct reading but I did get something.

Started testing some diodes.....R-26,R-27,R-24,R-13,R-94,R-70,R-71,C-30 are bad....stopped there....this sucks....BOO!!!....Heading to a friends to try his meter.It ain't the meter but gonna rule that out.pulled the board off the frame and noticed diode on the back and a wire connecting...

Guess I need to clean all the dust off this thing and retest.I thought some stuff was blown but ya'll have told me about the blob I thought was something melted and the charred part is normal from heat.I feel a little more confident since you said it's like workin' on an old Chevy.I can do...

Cool.didn't realize that was a pot.Is it possible that when I was wiggling the pcb to get it to work could have blown the chassis fuse.Well, it didn't blow while I was wiggling it.But maybe it came back loose.That might be a stupid question but I'm learning.I haven't replaced the fuse since it...

I hear you...I was curious about the fact that some stuff might just be silicone or something.....The big caps have some white stuff that looks like white silicone...here's some pic's... I'll try and get some better pics....

Oh yeah....I wish it got struck by Lightning!!!!.....at least I'd know what happened!!!!
