  1. Issue with CGA / VGA Converter, Monitor resolution

I got it mostly working. It was a case of human error. I'm surprised one monitor worked plugged in wrong and one didn't. Needs some adjustment but at least I have picture. I will take a look at the updated firmware. Looks no more difficult (very similar) than the custom firmware on my Ender...
  2. Issue with CGA / VGA Converter, Monitor resolution

The menu button is no longer responsive on the converter with the working monitor. I ordered another converter on Amazon, hopefully it's a faulty converter.
  3. Issue with CGA / VGA Converter, Monitor resolution

It says HD 9800 V5.0 on it. Looks to be the same one in this link. https://onemoregame.en.alibaba.com/product/62035344572-804786924/GBS_8200_CGA_to_VGA_Video_Converter_HD9800_V5_0_CGA_EGA_YUV_To_VGA_Video_Converter_Board_Arcade_Game_Parts.html
  4. Issue with CGA / VGA Converter, Monitor resolution

The monitor on my Cruisn World was giving me issues. From what I read online this is a problematic monitor. I decided to go the LCD route as a replacement. I found a Samsung 27" SA550 for free on Facebook and had a CGA / VGA converter that I pulled out of a project years ago. I installed...
  5. Rewiring DK cab for DK Jr Bootleg

I have an odd DK, I believe it's a prototype of some sort. You can read about it and see some pics on this thread. https://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=395731 Thanks to Mike's Arcade the board is repaired and works. I need to constantly adjust the voltage though, I'm guessing it's...
  6. Capcom Bowling to Coors Light Bowling

(9 years later...) I was wondering the same thing.
  7. Donkey Kong Help!

I'll send it back. I think I still have the box. Same address as the return shipping label?
  8. Donkey Kong Help!

The 82S09 at 4A was socketed on the video board and looked pretty ratty. I found one off a board I'm 99% sure was working and no change. The only other RAM I see on the video board are 2114 at 5L and 5M. I could socket these and replace them. The same board I got the 82S09 from has some of...
  9. Donkey Kong Help!

I was hoping it was something simple. Ha! I'm guessing the RAM is socketed. I'll see what I have lying around, I may have another to swap in. Other than that, I guess I have no choice but to send it back.

Here are a couple videos if it helps. https://www.dropbox.com/s/h09q3sgfqsym6ea/2017-05-29%2001.23.00.mp4?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/su8nkyffrhythjj/2017-05-29%2001.23.22.mp4?dl=0
  11. Donkey Kong Help!

Changing the socket unfortunately did not help. In addition, the socket I used (round) does not seem to work with the pins on the Braze card. Regular CPU and D2K fit fine. I figured for troubleshooting purposes, I'll just stick to stock DK. On first power up I get all zeros and a jump man...
  12. Donkey Kong Help!

I measured voltage from the PCB using the PS as a ground. +4.95 -4.77 Lowering the voltage slightly I get +4.82 -4.67 If you think the socket is a possibility I can easily change that here. I have the desoldering gear and have done lots of 40 pin sockets on pinball. I just don't know my...
  13. Donkey Kong Help!

OK, I will recheck. I removed the high score kit and the game does even less. Almost all upside down letters and numbers. The Z80 pulls out very easily. What are the chances the socket is worn out?
  14. Donkey Kong Help!

I gradually reduced the voltage and powered back on until the game failed at about +4.2v measured at the board. No real difference in the video. Would a video of the screen be of any help? I appreciate the offer to warranty the repair, I just want to make sure everything is ok on my end...
  15. Donkey Kong Help!

Using the power supply ground as a reference I have -5.13 at the PS and -4.9 at the board.
