Atari System 1 (PPR) Graphics Issues

Working on a PPR that was supposed to be 100% working... ... surprise, not so much. I put GadgetFreak's test ROMs on there and came back with 3 errors on the work RAMs. 2 every time and another occasionally (usually started to goof up on the 2nd run through of the tests)... I removed, socketed...

    Spy Hunter Wonky Text

ROM verified fine, but wasn't working right on the board. Replaced the ROM and everything was MUCH better. Thanks for the help!

    Spy Hunter Wonky Text

I'm working on a Spy Hunter (UR) that is having issues with some text. Some letters don't show up on the screen correctly. In the attached picture everything in the "40" row, and ONLY the "40" row, is effected. It appears to be a chip that's failing as adjusting the 5V line effects that happens...

Wms Sys 11 PIA(all) issue (Leons)

I'm working on a friends Road Kings MPU right now... severe battery damage. I've repaired everything I saw. I'm working with Leon's test ROM now, just pulsing the PIAs. PA1 and PB1 are stuck(high) on all PIAs... I don't know enough (or anything really) about the workings on 6821 PIAs. What am I...

    Nintendo Donkey Kong 3 - DK3 - Highscore save

I tried Mark's code but I couldn't get it to run right for me... I probably messed up somewhere. So I condensed it down to a smaller bit so I could follow everything. Since HSS doesn't work on this game anyways, I just left that part out. After tinkering around I came up with a few different...

Centipede : Garbage/Squiggles on screen. Started with the clock... found 3 163s bad at M2, N2, P2. Replacing those got SOMETHING on the screen that was recognizable... but there was a lot of repeating characters running down the screen... RAM test said N5 was bad. Replacing that got the screen...

Is it possible to read the 2 video decoder Proms used on the CPU Bd. in Defender?

I had to make boards to replace them with w27C512 EEPROMs... I tried 2732s but they just wouldn't work right. I think they weren't fast enough. I've used w27C512s to replace color/sound PROMs as well on other boards... they're pretty much my "go to". I'm still "testing" the Decoder PROM board to...

Pinitech 6116 replacement NVRAM vs MCR version // Anypin DMD+ NVRAM comments // Swemmer

The AnyPin NVRAMs are neat and all... I work on a lot of pinball machines and would keep one handy in my "oh, shhhhiiii...." bag. Outside of that, I can't really see any use for them for the average Joe. You're not going to be moving them from pin to pin, so once they're set, you're probably...

    Space Invaders Clocks @ C7 (74LS160 issues)

Typo... I had to go back and re-re-read the original post. Guess I fat thumbed the "1" instead of the "0" (I use the number pad most of the time). Fixed the typo. Verified no bridges or anything like that... just acting wonky.

    Space Invaders Clocks @ C7 (74LS160 issues)

I'm trying to get a Midway (L) Space Invaders set back up and running. I started with gibberish on the screen... Eventually found that C7 (9310/74160) was bad and missing 2 signals out (pins 13 and 11 IIRC). I didn't have a 74160 so I bought a couple of 74LS160s. Now I'm getting good clock...

Looking at the manual, the "P" rollover light is L45, driven off of a flip flop at Z12 (pin 7) through R46 and Q46 (an MPS-U45, probably your issue) on the driver board (A3). Got a feeling Q46 is shorted.

Dig Dug sounds weren't working. After double checking the AR/II, and everything else that "usually" goes bad, I found the outputs of the sound PROM at 2K/L weren't moving. I made a few adapter boards for w27c512 EEPROMs and 82S129s. Used one of the boards to make a reader so I could check the...

Galaxian Stuck in boot loop. Moving test "garbage" on screen, then would reset and keep running that test over and over again. Used PhilMur's Galaxian test rom... showed RAM error. Removed the two 2114s, added sockets, put the RAM back in. Error. Swapped the RAM positions. Different error...

Revolution X Sounds have been getting worse for weeks, eventually went completely silent. 220uF cap on the sound board leaked. Caught it before it did any major damage to traces. Cleaned the affected area, then cleaned it again, then cleaned it again. Went ahead and recapped the entire board...
