Donkey Kong PCB Card Edge Connector

Hi everyone. In my restoration of a DK machine, I am struggling a bit with the wiring for the main PCB connector. For example, the schematic shows nine grounds I believe (Pins 1, 2, 21, 22, A, B, T, Y, Z) Do all of these need to be hooked up to the power supply ground? I have seen (blurry)...

DK Sanyo 20EZ Low B+ Voltage

Ok, so the saga continues... The video continues to look like a flag in the wind, just like this post on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTlVqz8mqvQ&feature=related) - just not as bad... So far I have: A deluxe cap kit Replaced the filter cap - twice (two different manufacturers)...

DK Sanyo 20EZ Low B+ Voltage

Sounds like a reasonable next step. The cabinet is being prepped for paint at the moment, so once complete, I will get it all back in the cabinet and re-wire all the grounds from end to end. Thanks everyone - I will report back once I get it back together. I really appreciate everyone's help...

DK Sanyo 20EZ Low B+ Voltage

Hi Hindered. Yes, this is all correct. The only thing I would add is that after replacing the current limiting transistor, the filter cap, and the IC originally as suggested by Dokert, the video problems went away (sans the wave) and yes, the B+ was able to be brought up to the required 108V...

DK Sanyo 20EZ Low B+ Voltage

Hi - Yes, I have replaced the filter cap - One from Bob Roberts and one from in town here. There was no effect between the original and either of the two replacements. - Ryan

DK Sanyo 20EZ Low B+ Voltage

Kevin: Yes, both IC orders were from Bob Roberts. Deadly: Great question - I would feel quite bad if I have misled everyone with my terminology and what I define as a wave. I am unfamiliar with what a hum bar is... I tried taking a video of the screen but it came out quite awful and...

DK Sanyo 20EZ Low B+ Voltage

Yes. After installing this, as well as the first replacement IC, I was able to get the voltage adjusted correctly to 108V. This (along with the other parts replaced) fixed the video problems I was experiencing, but the wave remains... - Ryan

Alas, the new ic arrived and the wave is unfortunately still present. :(

I guess the next step would be, as suggested, to order another IC601. Would you recommend I order the IC from Bob Roberts again, or somewhere else? Ryan

DK Sanyo 20EZ Low B+ Voltage

Yes, in fact I did get the parts from Bob Roberts. I just ran downtown and grabbed a new 470uF cap and threw it in on the chance the other two were bad. Unfortunately, the wave is still present. :(

Dokert, what should the voltages be for IC601?

Not a dumb question at all. Yes, all the grounds are connected...

DK Sanyo 20EZ Low B+ Voltage

Hi Dokert. The big white one connecting BJ / TP91 is R609. It's in-circuit resistance measurement is 180 - Bang on. R605 and R608 out-of-circuit measurements 39k0 and 3k80 respectively. All the resistors I measured were to specification. The schematic I have been using, which seems to match...
