Time Traveler wasn't supported in Dexter until earlier this year (2017). Be sure to upgrade your Dexter firmware in order to enjoy Time Traveler with Dexter :)
the .ldimg files are not copy protected so there isn't exactly a single point of failure. The community will be able to withstand the disaster type of scenario that you are talking about.

Very cool new youtube video showing off Dexter+Merlin integration. it looks so tasty I want to play it on my cab right this very second :)
so advans13, are you in now?
Latest Dexter blog post and Facebook post both show video proving that Merlin+Dexter integration is working and will be available to customers who pre-order. I'd post a link but apparently I don't have privileges.
Dexter has the same connectors as the original laserdisc player, which in this case, is a BNC connector.
Getting a BNC to RCA adapter is not a big deal if needed.
I agree. The market is small and these boards need to be ordered in bulk to be cost effective. The combination of these two factors says that it would be unwise to wait.
As I said in another reply, I don't think there's much difference once Daphne is running, but Daphne requires an operating system to run which usually takes a minute to boot up. This kills the illusion that the game is exactly what people played as a kid in 1983. Dexter does a much better job...
