Okay, I'm getting old. It was Sky Shark. Which has nothing to do with spaceships or science fiction... too much time playing these games.

Spaceship sort of thing. You're flying over land, but the ship is definitely science fiction, rather than an airplane, animal, superhero, etc. I wonder what other basic details I left off the first question! The screenshots of Raiden make it look interesting, but it isn't the one.
