My situation was a bit different in that my machine worked fine from time of purchase (2 years ago) till about 6 months ago....on the other hand i think i remember the Ebay guy said he tried to fix it and it went from upside-down to nothing so i wonder just what he played with in trying to fix...
there isn't much to the little sound board on these so next time i get a chance i'll look it over abit closer....anybody have any ideas about how to troubleshoot this soundboard, i guess i'll theck the little transformer first that powers the speaker and backtrack from there.
Soulcon, the test switch is in about the center of the monitor board, it's got a little white leverand the board says "test mode" next to it. Just to see what would happen i flipped mine to "test" and my screen went blank. It's worth a try. I could take a pic later if you can't find it. This...
Pretty sure it's not in table top mode as it worked fine about 6 months ago. Going to reset all the chips as you said. Also a note to the original thread starter, sounds obvious but check your test mode switch on the monitor board and make sure it's in "normal" position.
1st post here......so funny i just did a search on video game repair forums and found this one with a thread already started for exactly my problem. I too was watching that popeye machine on ebay since i have a popeye with an upside-down video and no sound. Looks like i'm one step ahead though...
